Could someone please help and explain the nautre of 'Pending' and whe ndo they become 'complete' For any project that sends out multple copies of a Workunit, Pending means at least one computer has returned a result, while the remaining computer(s) are still working. Task/Result/Workunit ID have to do with keeping track of every Workunit and copy of that WU (Result/Task). CPU Time means how long did that computer work on it before it sent back an answer of some sort- when it does... |

Could someone please help and explain the nautre of 'Pending' and whe ndo they become 'complete' It may seem that I'm just nitpicking, but for clarity, the CPU time is the actual time your computer spent crunching on a specific work unit. It can sit on a computer quite a while before it starts crunching, and it can sit on the computer for a time between finishing and being sent back. For instance it may be 72 hours between the time you download a wu and it is reported back, but the actual CPU time may be only six hours spent actually crunching it. Did you read the replies to your previous thread on the same subject? Every workunit (WU) that your computer gets is also sent to at least 1 other computer. Credit is issued when a similar result is received from both. When you return a result first, you will get a pending credit. If both results agree then credit is granted. Somtimes you have to wait days or weeks (rarely months) for the credit to be granted. Sir Arthur C Clarke 1917-2008 |
