What's really interesting to me is how much buying power people with the same job have in different locations. When I was an employee in Germany I had an average pay and lived in my own flat, but costs of living were so high, that I did not manage to save money. In the Czech Republic living is so far still way cheaper and I could live just from the rental income of the house I bought for the money I got for selling my flat in Gemany and still save about 200€ a month, plus the income from business. Also compared the income and expenses of my GF (nurse) in the CR and Germany and even though the gross income is like 3.5x higher the difference of buying power is not as drastic because taxes, rents and cost of living are way higher in Germany. I think there is a MAC/iPod factor or something to measure real buying power. |

I haven't heard about any iPod factors, but there is the Big Mac Index. The latest from February 1.st, 2007 In the Wiki article there's a link to this: An iTunes Index for Exchange Rates where the price for downloading a song in iTunes has been compared, also against the Big Mac Index: "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |
