I would wager to say that the SETI UOTD is one of the harder one's to win. Given the amount of users here. That is when it's chosen at random. You may also vote for user profiles you like.

For example Click here Thanks! lol

OK! Just thought that if someone was choosing them they would pick users with good profiles, donors, active in the forums etc. etc. No offence was ment to "Stain Igor".

You are new here, so it is expected you might not know how some things around here work. But be warned, when you post an opinion here you can expect others to react with sometimes opposing opinions. And overall (minus blatant flaming), other opinions and views are a good thing.

You got something against Chess Players? LOL...just kidding.

Someone should tell you: they're chosen randomly, so it has nothing to do with merit. The fuss and congratulations is like an excuse to enjoy some good luck with friends. :]]

function default_uotd_candidates_query(){
    if (profile_screening()) {
        $query = "SELECT * FROM profile,user WHERE profile.userid=user.id ";
        $query .= " AND verification=1 ";
        $query .= " AND expavg_credit>1 ";
        $query .= " AND uotd_time IS NULL ";
        $query .= "ORDER BY RAND()";
    } else {
        $query = "SELECT * FROM profile,user WHERE profile.userid=user.id ";
        $query .= "AND expavg_credit>1 ";
        $query .= "AND uotd_time IS NULL ";
        $query .= "ORDER BY RAND()";
    }
    return $query;

There are the facts - straight from the BOINC php code :)

All UOTDs must have a RAC of over 1 and they can't have been UOTD before and it is chosen at random (ORDER BY RAND() does that).

If profile screening is enabled in the project config then the profile has to be screened. Otherwise it ignores the screening. Screening has to be done by the admin.

I think that's how it's done actually. I got hit in the eyeball once. It was a nasty bit of business.

I wonder if anyone feels silly for putting themselves on a pedestal and assuming that people voted for them to get a UOTD, even on their birthday?
