Intel Pentium 4 Processor 630 Package / socket type is LGA775 Specific Info: http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL7Z9 General Info: http://www.intel.com/products/processor_number/chart/pentium4.htm I've had this CPU sitting around for ages. My PCs won't take it so it's just gathering dust. As far as I know it works but I haven't been able to test it. If you can use this in one of your crunchers or to build a free PC for someone then let me know. First person to post their interest in this thread gets first choice. (It's probably a good idea if you also PM me.) No cost. It's free. It's small so it won't even cost you postage. I'm in the UK but I'll post it worldwide. |

Pick me! Pick me! (I'd need to find out if it will fit in ). I'll pm you. Founder of BOINC team Objectivists. Oh the humanity! Rational people crunching data! I did NOT authorize this belly writing! |

As much as I would love free processors, not really for me. I only have one system that would take a LGA775 chip and it already has a 3GHz P4 (SL7PU). The only difference is yours has 2MB L2 cache and runs at a slightly lower voltage. I would end up with a spare P4 if I swapped them. Have you posted in the Number Crunching area? EDIT: Never mind. R/B got in while typing this up. Good luck. I would have to check if the machine was compatible with EMT64 stuff (but it looks like most P4 have this according to a chart I have of Intel CPU's) and the machine is at my parent's so can't check easily. Whoever else reading this that knows they can use it right away please feel free to take it. I pm'd crunchy and I don't know anything about hardware so would have to see if it would be an upgrade to one of these old idle boxes I have stored. Founder of BOINC team Objectivists. Let me talk to Crunchy and see if it can replace a pentium 1 or II how'd that be? I've got no idea how to tell what's compatible with the other bits and pieces or not. I don't want to get you offside, but I seriously doubt the P4 chip will go in a motherboard that holds a PI or PII chip. They have a different number of pins to start with and different socket types. You need a board that has a LGA775 socket. These are usually and only? used by some P4 compatible boards and the some/most Core 2 boards. Never surrender and never give up. OK guys. I prefer to give it to the person that 'knows' they can use it. R/B check your motherboard or post your mobo details here and we can advice you. It's only a CPU so as long as the person who gets it makes good use of it I don't care :o) 3 people have shown an interest so let's wait to see if R/B needs it. |

Makes sense what Gavin was saying. Go ahead and give it to whoever is next in line that knows they can use it straight away. Founder of BOINC team Objectivists. Oh the humanity! Rational people crunching data! I did NOT authorize this belly writing! |

You can still check up your systems. Do you have any P4 systems? If so one of them could be upgraded. Download CPU-Z and run it on each machine. It should tell you what type of socket the processor sits in / uses. It will be in the field called Package on the first tab. If any say Socket 775 LGA you could have a candidate. For anyone who is interested: You can use CPU-Z to check you systems processor socket compatibility. That will help you determine if it is useful for you. Sorry to those who already know this. :) Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope. |

OK, As far as I am aware this chip will only fit LGA775 mobo's from 2005+ onwards. It won't replace earlier pentium series. LGA775 is the package type. (LGA775 has no pins underneath the chip.) LGA775 motherboards also use Celerons so not just Pentiums. (Although they may be Intel specific?) Anyway R/B (here and via PM) has passed on the offer. Gavin & Ratava if either of you still want this CPU will you PM each other and agree who's machine will be better benefited by this chip. Let me know. (Don't forget your BIOS also needs to support this CPU.) |

Thanks Gavin and Crunchy for your knowledge. Yes, the things I have in storage weren't compatible. Founder of BOINC team Objectivists. Oh the humanity! Rational people crunching data! I did NOT authorize this belly writing! |

This is a fairly decent processor. The only reason I'm not biting is mine is a tad better! Just a tad though. Account frozen... |

Very nice deal here, but I can't use it.... hopefully Daniel can use it. Account frozen... |

Please no more requests. To be fair to people I need to let Gavin & Ratava respond to see if either of them will take the CPU. If neither of them want it then Dune or Daniel get it in that order. There are enough people who are interested now so someone in the thread below will get the chip. |

cRunchy, I just sent a PM. Sorry for the delay came home and had to cook and eat dinner and only just got back here. As I said in my PM, if Ratava can use it, give it to him. If he wants it. No pressure or bad feelings if you take it Ratava. :) Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope. |

SNIP... Thank you Gavin, Dune also just PMd me and said after some research he couldn't use it either. This leaves Ratava then Daniel in that order.. @ Ratava. If you still want the CPU let us know. (I'm going to be offline for the next few hours.) |
