No no. All that WAS kinda resolved. I still have my team.

What has happened now, is he somehow achieved getting me deleted from myspace, thus deleting the group that the team was founded from.. The one I spent months putting together.

I would cry, or get really livid, but thats what he wants so I'm not/.

Kinda sad that some people have nothing better to do than undo other peoples efforts to make the world better. I guess he is anti-BOINC since he killed my webpage. I had just invited another few hundred people too. Guess I will just have to make a new myspace page, and boinc team, and figure out how to make them secure. :(

Get in touch with Myspace admin. There's a back up somewhere and if it was malicious they may be more apt to help you. Just a thought. Tough break though.

I did however notice the angry ip scanner thing in the background image in his blog. I bet he did it thru that somehow. Still wouldnt explain how he could get my password. I have some friends that are going to look into it.

Please tell me that all your machines, especially the one you do all your work with and your network is behind a firewall. Perhaps something other than the in built Windows. Built in firewall on the modem/router?

Do you run any hosting services (like a web server, email, telnet etc) on your main machine?

You may want to run the ShieldsUp test across your machine and check if it can find any openings into your machine. Assuming your machine is open. Maybe he went after the MySpace server and got your account.

Somehow this jerk got my myspace group, and my personal profiles deleted!!!!! I am in total shock! I know he is sitting there all proud of himself, thinking he is the hacker of the century. Sadly, I WAS going to let my myspace page die, but I didnt want to kill our BOINC group!!! WHat a jerk. Thats all I can say here. Apparently the guy isn't as retarded as he made himself seem. I would love to know how he did it!?!?!! Did he hack MY computer somehow and get the password? Did he hack myspace? Either way, he sure needs to do more good in the world instead of ruining other peoples effort. Way to contribute to BOINC!! Delete one of the top teams!! THis guy needs to come see me personally.

Note to him: If you have the go-nads, post me some directions.. I will promptly come bash your face in.

Is there any proof that it was him? If so, please post said proof to the setimods email list.

Hmm, it's most likely the they somehow got your username and password. It's too risky to hack into the myspace system just to mess up your site (unless they're an imbecile or, really hate you). A brute forcer could do it I guess. If there was a hack into the myspace system than it's very possible to have obtained the passwords/usernames of many users including yours. As suggested by another person, get in touch with the myspace admin. If you set it back up make sure the passwords are extremely hard the break.

I counted 15 computers in your profile. If any of those are connected to yours and have internet connectivity with weak security than it's possible that your passwords could be stolen thru one of those. Or, even from just the primary computer that you use.

I have been playing with operating systems on different machines, so there are a few duplicated in the list. Some are older machines that I tried for fun, but are no longer connected.

Yea that could have done it. Some sites allow addons etc and you get/download/add/build scripts etc that log IP addresses, DNS names etc. So it could be collected from that. He would have to determine which one is yours, but if you left a post he could work it out from the timestamps.

I mean here at Seti they can track what Boinc version connects to the server.

No proof, but come on.. I have been on myspaz for YEARS with no incident.. Now just days after I got him in trouble on SETI and took my team back? After all the junk he talked to me on myspace, there isnt a doubt in my mind. I WOULD post the E-mails about how I was really in for it, and I had no idea all the people that were gonna get me.. He pretty much told me he was going to do it, just didnt say what or how. :( I think he might have even rejoined my BOINC Myspacers SETI team as TEENY because I had made some suggestion as to his lack of manhood.

Well, that's assuming that they are not secure at this moment. Please note, I am not a security expert in any way. I know bits and pieces, but I am not the best person to ask.

The first thing is to run the ShieldsUp test(s) (see earlier post for link). It may take a while, especially to understand. But it could be worth it. Poke around and read up. Those guys know a bit.

Depending on the test results you may have to do some playing around. The next thing would be then to check your firewall and see how it is configured and what it allows in and out. Maybe their is a hole in it.

That would be the starting point. I hope it helps a bit.

I'm not going to be your fan here but I don't mean to be bad.

Firstly even if you feel angry you shouldn't be posting threats about 'bashing peoples faces in'. It won't help you.

Secondly why use 'myspace'? There are lot's of people on these forums who could help you set up a perfectly secure space for your team or your own promotions.

Thirdly I doubt "the FIXER" has hacked your PC and stolen some obscure password to 'myspace' just to attack you. Any hacker that took the time to get some odd bit of info could have easily taken your address book, letters, bank details and every other piece of private data you use on your PC.


Why not just start again and move to a new service and if the problem happens again you would then have proof.

Unless of course you are suggesting 'myspace' is compromised per-se.. In which case you might be better asking on the 'myspace' forums to see if others have had your experience.


Just in case you have a keylog or dialer on your PC have you run an anit-virus / spyware app or run a com application like cPorts to see where your PC is connecting to?


You really need to talk to 'myspace' as only they and you are responsible for the security of their service to you.

If 'myspace' have any proof that a SETI member has been attacking you I am sure the admins here would be glad to hear directly from a 'myspace' admin via e.mail.
