Just as an aside point will anyone be doing something positive for others this Xmas?

Anyone going to go out and serve food on a table in their city centre? Give out clothes? Donate some time or effort to others?

.

Sure!

But let me ask you if you mean to state that only handing out blankets to homeless people is what you classify as something positive?

I'll be doing 3 hours of service with my wife at a local food kitchen this weekend serving an early xmas dinner to the homeless...

No it's not the only way but it is one positive thing that can make a difference to someone else (and in the grand scheme of things to ourselves also.)

There are millions of other ways to be positive too.

You've repeatedly called for the socialization of society for the benefit of your 'fellow man'. ?

Is that correct?

SNIP...

(I don't really understand what that means to you... but anyway...)

No. You missed my point completely.

Sorry.

It's like this:

'Scratchy Capitalist' and 'Jeffrey Ants In His Pants' love fighting.

So much so that the religious thread has become a battle between who can put each other down best.

If I wanted to post something to the religious thread I couldn't without fear of either getting a 'scripture' type response or an 'anti-scripture' type response..

That's all.

PS: If you two can't afford a room I'm sure we can find you a spare tent to share :o)~

Crunchy...you have repeatedly called for Christian Socialism. Yet you now renounce this kind of idealogy.

If I've mistaken you then I apologize.

regardless your arguments for socialism in all countries won't stand against my logic.

Religion is all about scripture... Without scripture, religion would amount to nothing but a 'fairy tale'... ;)

The Religion Test

My Results:

Catholic While you were born with Original Sin, you believe in turning the other cheek and forgiveness. Jesus was the Son of God and he died for the sins of man. When you were baptized you had your slate wiped clean. You repent when you've committed a sin with some Hail Marys and celebrate Christmas. Your religious services are held on a Sunday and include singing, prayer and confession (with wine and crackers!).

And after a minor change:

Muslim Your faith is centered around one God and Five Pillars (faith, prayers, charity, fasting and pilgrimage). You believe that the Koran is the direct word of God and you will certainly be resurrected after death. You pray five times a day facing east, skip the bacon with your eggs and maybe cover your head.

Interesting... ;)

Well I took the test. Boy was I sorry.

If you click 'Score My Quiz' without adding the info, the info page will come back... At this point, try closing the tab... When the pop-up pops up, click 'cancel' a few times, then click 'okay'... You'll have your results... No annoying ads, and no info required... ;)

(I guess I should have mentioned this earlier.)

The Religion Test

Well I took the test. Boy was I sorry. Had to wade through umpteen
dozen offers before it would give me my results. Then to top it all
off it accused me of being a Buddhist. Well as all good Buddhist know,
there's no such thing as a Buddhist. " Buddhist" is just a word, or if you
say it out loud, a sound.
Yup that's me. I'm a Noise. :o]

One that's heard loud and clear. :-P

Fun with Religion!

Who ever said Religion shouldn't be "FUN".

He who is without sin

Jesus saw a crowd chasing down a woman to stone her and approached them. "What's going on here, anyway?" he asked.

"This woman was found committing adultery, and the law says we should stone her!" one of the crowd responded.

"Wait," yelled Jesus. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

Suddenly, a stone was thrown from out of the sky, and knocked the woman on the side of her head.

"Aw, c'mon, Dad..." Jesus cried, "I'm trying to make a point here!"

We Are More.

Does no one else find it odd that we have the 11th numeration of a "Religious Thread" created in the "Politics" section of the SETI forums?

Doesn't this sound like a formula for everlasting disaster?

Someone quotes religious scripture... Someone quotes non-religious scripture... War...

No doubt endless fun for those that love fighting over who can catch the other person out but...

It seems a cruel joke on all of us!

(Who created this thread anyway???)

No more odd than the fact that as member since '99 you've chosen not to complain about it until now... ;)

Do those dates and numbers really matter to you Jeffrey?

If you are missing arguing with 'Scary Capitalist' don't blame me.

Go tease him if you have a need.

I think they thought that the religion thread belongs here in the less censored politics thread. They could take it out altogether as far as I'm concerned. But I'm happy to debate it.
