When I first started crunching for SETI I never posted unless I had a problem that I couldn't resolve on my own. Then I started looking at the threads on Beta and I liked them so I started posting over there. When my RAC dropped to low to post I then checked out these boards and found some here as well that I liked. This would not have been possible without the Admins and others, so my thanks go out to you. You have done a great job.

What you do today you will have to live with tonight

Message 644927 - Posted: 20 Sep 2007, 16:42:14 UTC - in response to Message 644714.

I've grown to love these forums,

There's been a lot of arguing lately and I feel these forums may be in jeopardy of being turned into just a single branch forum designed for only support and announcements.

I don't want this to happen.

I've had my scuffs and bruises but to think of these forums ever dying out makes me sad.

Now... I know we can't join hands and sing, "Kumbaya, my Lord", or go out and roast marshmallows together. But, I'd like to think we can always have this place to have fun and share data and ideas, while meeting people from around the planet who are all linked together in a common goal.

If you feel the same way and have a moment, can you please make a short post telling the SETI staff?

No debates here, please.

There's been enough of that already.

Just express here IF you want this community to exist, as is.

The choice may not be ours, but maybe... just maybe, it will make all the difference.

Humbly, your friend and colleague,

mrgray

I read in the donation thread that there's a problem with the PayPal side of the donations, but I dunno if that's causing a problem with the donation page. Maybe Eric is workin on it.

We are not crunching... Our computers are the real crunchers (under our orders...)

We are people who was decided what our computers paritipated in this proyect...

But we are humans and we need something more than a RAC to feel than we are integrated in a world community, searching something that seems so distant or impossible as is to find extraterrestrial intelligence...

We need Cafe Seti... TO BE!
Logan.

And... If we can't comunicate among us... How do you think that we will be able to do it with a E.T.?

Probably, the first signal that arrives will come from a E.T. forum like cafe seti… :)

I was just wondering Mr. Gray why do you feel that the cafe will be closed ?
And also do you think that there is someone who reads each and every post and thread on here ?

That would really take up alot of personal time don't you think ?

I am new to Seti .
However ,with all the arguing and bickering I have read and you all say that this place or forums have been here for a few years.
Wouldn't it have been closed by now for all the bickering and argueing by now?

People are going to chime in on something if they feel they don't agree . I think Seti knew that when all these forums were opened . That there would be disagreements .

I do not get around to the other forums much. But I do go in on occasion and read up . I think if Seti closed down the forums it would be a given that they would be well aware of the fact that they would loose a few people.

People who are not truley devoted to seti .

And would end up with alot that would stay on. There are probally millions of computers at work . And I do not see millions in the forums !

I however am for SETI . When I joined I had no idea about any forums . So that means I joined for SETI . Not the forums .

And I do enjoy the forums I have made a few great friends and I look forward to seeing whats been talked about and whats been going on while I was out.

However , I will give my 2 cents and say :

I thank Seti for having such a project for the people of the world to be able to come together and to pertisapate in from there home or office.

THANK YOU SETI , And all who are behind the scenes doing what it takes to make it possiable for us all to help mankind in our own little way .

Thank you for your late night work when the system goes down .Thank you for making all the forums so we who do crunch for SETI can communicate with each other . And be able to share opionions and a few laughs and the opportunity
to make a few aquaintances along the way .

THANK YOU SETI / AND ADMIN / And STAFF

Irish Angel :)

And Thank you Mr.Gray :)

Wow,

I typed up about 7 paragraphs and then lost connection to my wireless when hitting the "Post Reply" button.

:(

Let me summarize and copy/paste before hitting that button again:

I worried about the community knowing how hard it is to keep a forum of this size pruned and happy. I thought I'd defuse my own fears while offering a venue for those who appreciate this site and don't mind expressing it.

I didn't want the admins and mods to feel no one appreciated their work, or think we didn't care about it's future. I also hope more automated systems can be applied to save the mods sanity before a "Who cares" attitude developed.

I am very proud of what I have seen here in this thread and am happy to be part of this community.

Wow, that was much easier!

Note to self: Less is more. CTL+C / CTL+V = Good!

Thank You Mr. Gray....I'm sure the other mods appreciate your thoughts as much as I do.

I'm an admin on several other websites as well as modding and handling Hardware Donations here, and it's not always easy but the users can contribute to making it easier...or it can go in ways I prefer not to worry about less I need to :)

Happy Thursday!
