"Spin 'em to the hubs Captain, spin 'em to the hubs."

Credited to meself one Saturday night about 30 years ago at bar closing time just before an old friend nicknamed 'Captain' brake-torqued the tires on his '69 Cadillac into the bar parking lot asphalt until they both blew out and sparks flew.

Boy, talk about attracting attention......

That was us ! Bulletproof. What can possibly go wrong ? Take your time answering that one

What did you do last year???

When I was a immortal teen genius. I took my dads Jeep out on El Mirage dry lake. Totally flat for a kazillion miles. You could roll a marble and it it would roll for 69 miles. So I started cutting donuts to try and throw my friend out of the Jeep. As he was going out he grabbed the stearing wheel to save his ass, which flipped the Jeep. No roll bar, windshield down....what could go wrong ? I just remember seeing him crawling on the lake and nothing after. Later, we were sitting there staring at a belly up Jeep in the middle of a dry lake thinking how are we EVER going to explain THIS ? Both of our dads were military sargents and not prone to believe anything we ever said. We were gonna say the Jeep rolled when we were side slipping a hill. But there was that dry lake problem. So...

So how did you you save your silly arses............ 'Ya know, it was like this............"

We didnt do anything to save our silly asses. We both were laying on the lake and staring at my DADs Jeep with 4 wheels straight up to the sun with 20 miles of flat dirt around us. It never occured to us how lucky and stupid we were. So then...

Lester...so how'd you get out of the desert?

We walked out. Called HIS dad who pulled it over. It started right up. Had a cracked windshield which some "Vandals" had broken while we were at the library...

Classic...lol. So how many times since then have you had a beer with your dad and used the 'raised eybrow'....about this story.?

God ! Who ARE these people ? Topics and follow ups out of their implant patterns ? But thanks for the try anyway RB. Either we suck or they do......

Well. my friend, where you there when I called out to my Captain, oh my captain, spin 'em to the hubs? No, you were not. Did you smell the smoke, no, you did not. Did you pick up the back bumper so he could replace the tyres, no, you did not.
My Captain has long passed. But the memory of his chaigrin will long outlive him. Spin 'em to the hubs, my Captain, spin 'em to the hubs.

'Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much... the wheel, New York, wars, and so on, whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely the dolphins believed themselves to be more intelligent than man for precisely the same reasons.' ~ Douglas Adams

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

Not exactly famous, but one of my favorites......
