Message 632840 - Posted: 3 Sep 2007, 15:52:56 UTC - in response to Message 632834.

It's now official on www.primegrid.com. Finally. I've been eagerly waiting for the announcement. It was no surprise that it was a cullen/woodall, had it been a twin we would have been told. So we're still hunting for a twin prime.

I found some!
3 and 5!
5 and 7!
11 and 13!
I suspect you mean the largest known twin primes.

a*(2^a)-1?

right. A Woodall prime is any prime of the form n*2^n-1. ^ has priority over * which has priority over +- so you don't really need any ().

go to http://primes.utm.edu/ and read all about it.

Suppose i should have mentioned that it's twin primes in the form of
2^333333-1 /+1 that we're looking for. Without this information it does not make much sense... And yes, if or i should say when we find one, it will be the largest known so far.

Sorry that I was so hard to contact. I was away for work for a couple weeks. Thank you to everyone that helped to contact me.

I feel really lucky that it was me that crunched the workunit. But someone will find a bigger one soon.

Thanks for my 5 minutes of fame.
