I've been using BOINC for Linux under a Mandriva 2007.0 x86-64 install with no problems.

When the time came to upgrade to 2007.1, I converted my BOINC folder to a tar archive and copied it to an external drive, then reformatted my hdd and loaded 2007.1.
When I copied my BOINC folder back, I found that the client works, but the manager does not.
./boincmgr: error while loading shared libraries: libXxf86vm.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Looks like a missing X11 library at the new Mandriva installation. Have you searched the Mandriva packages for this lib ?
Is the BOINC manager from the Mandriva distribution ?
Have you tried to install the offical BOINC client and BOINC manager ?

Edit: google said that the lib is included in the libxorg-x11-6.8.2-7andyrtr.i586 package. Eventualy is this libxorg-x11... package available on your CDs or via the web.

I'm currently using 5.8.17 official. Mandriva does not offer a version of the BOINC software for their distribution.

Looking back to the original error, I've found and installed libxxf86vm1-1.0.1-2mdv2007.0.i586 (plus all recommended dependencies) with the Mandriva software manager. BOINC Manager is now working again.

Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem with a clean install of MDV 2007.1 PWP on a new box.
Installing the libxxf86vm1 file solved the problem.

Thanks Robert
