I didn't even know there was an original until I rediscovered this one a few days ago.

I think the original came out the year I was born (1973) by David Essex.

Yes, I remember that song. And it was David Essex who recorded it back then.

Rock On - from iTunes

I just think I remember a more hard rock version of that song? I can't find it, or who it might have been who did a hard rock cover version of it. If my memory serves me well, which I don't know.

Yeah that's the one. I looked for it and found it at amazon. I was just listening to the Essex version at youtube and hey, it sounds good too. Def Leppard has a nice version. This is one of the few songs that I like different versions of. :)

Maybe the Def Leppard one? It's the only other one I could find.

Yes! That was the one I was thinking of. Thanks. :-D

I only remember David Essex for A Winter's Tale, not one of my favorites, but not hated enough to belong to the Hated Song's thread for me.

Van Halen - Unchained - Live from Toronto - Last Week

Katwoman works at the ACC and said it was a great show. Which surprised me a bit cuz she's an easy listening kinda girl.

Sade - Smooth Operator

Look for the long version, it's fantastic, but not kid friendly...

Lyrics:
He's laughing with another girl
And playing with another heart
Placing high stakes, making hearts ache
He's loved in seven languages
Jewel box life diamond nights and ruby lights, high in the sky
Heaven help him, when he falls
Diamond life, lover boy
He move in space with minimum waste and maximum joy
City lights and business nights
When you require streetcar desire for higher heights

No place for beginners or sensitive hearts
When sentiment is left to chance
No place to be ending but somewhere to start

No need to ask
He's a smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator

Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western male
Across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for sale

Face to face, each classic case
We shadow box and double cross
Yet need the chase

A license to love, insurance to hold
Melts all your memories and change into gold
His eyes are like angels but his heart is cold

No need to ask
He's a smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator

Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western male
Across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for sale

Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator

Me too. Did you see the long version? I was a big fan of Sade back in the 80'. :-)

I came to think of it because I came across a "smooth operator" lately.

I have never heard Milla sing before, she's not bad at all. A bit like Bjørk without being annoying as Bjørk...

Misfit, where are you???

Natalie Merchant - Candy Everybody Wants

Candy Everybody Wants

If lust and hate is the candy,
if blood and love tastes so sweet,
then we give 'em what they want.
Hey, hey, give 'em what they want.

So their eyes are growing hazy 'cos they wanna turn it on,
so their minds are soft and lazy.
Well, hey, give 'em what they want.

If lust and hate is the candy,
if blood and love tastes so sweet,
then we give 'em what they want.

So their eyes are growing hazy 'cos they wanna turn it on,
so their minds are soft and lazy.
Well... who do you wanna blame?

Hey, hey, give 'em what they want.

If lust and hate is the candy,
if blood and love tastes so sweet,
then we give 'em what they want.

So their eyes are growing hazy 'cos they wanna turn it on,
so their minds are soft and lazy.

Well... who do you wanna blame?
