We were kinda getting off track in the Stevie Ray thread, so I thought I would start another one for various guitar gods.

I don't know how many folks have heard of Greg Koch but he is a very talented guitarist from here in Wisconsin. Does a lot of promo work for Fender.

He also has a great sense of humor and does a lot of teaching videos as well. Here is Tonus Diabolicus.

Never heard of the man, will have to research him a bit. I was always a big fan of the Ventures stuff, they covered Apache as well.

You don't know The Shadows? Cliff Richard's backing band? Hank Marvin was the lead guitarist in The Shadows. They were very famous over here.

It seems that a lot of videos of Dire Straits have been removed from YouTube, so I couldn't find the one I wanted to link to to illustrate how Mark Knopfler is singing duet with his guitar, Six Blade Knife from their first self-titled album Dire Straits.

Here's another instead: Dire Straits - Down To the Waterline

Can't talk guitarists without mentioning this guy ......Joe Satriani

He teaches clases as well and is credited with teaching Kirk Hammett (Metallica), David Bryson (Counting Crows), Kevin Cadogan (Third Eye Blind), Larry LaLonde (Primus), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Phil Kettner (Laaz Rockit), Charlie Hunter and Steve Vai.

Surfing with the Alien
Another taste? OK!
Always with me, always with you

And just so you can see he plays well with others .......

Let alone without mentioning this guy Eddie Van Halen

His technique has inspired a whole generation.

Nice 'Red House'! Vai is a monster....one of my favorite things is this scene from the movie Crossroads, where he plays the devil's advocate in the headcutting contest. If I recall correctly, Ry Cooder did the acoustic work.

EDIT to replace link.

So I'm looking for a cool Jeff Healey Clip, right? And I find this!

Jeff Healey - see the light (live) Maybe someone can help me? Is that Dr John on the piano?

Killer cut!!! And considering the fact that he has been blind since he was 1 year old. Dunno if that was Dr. John or not though..

Why can't you find a vid you think is cool yourself?

It sure looks like Dr. John on piano. I think Jeff said that also before his solo.

Oh in this clip you miss his genial solo. This clip is better, but takes entire 11 minutes. Man he played on his audience as well as he played on his guitar

LOL....I don't think he was asking for help to find a vid, he was asking for help in finding out whether that was Dr. John or not.

How 'bouts Sonny Landreth? Some pretty neat bottleneck guitar and some really cool techniques employed.

And this bit with John Hiatt.

And World Away. His technique is just really entertaining to watch.

Da best guitarist :)

I couldn't agree more & this one always gets me: Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child @ Berkley

BTW, check the girl @ 7 min. She's got to be 60 by now, & still could remember that night. PRICELESS!

He also had some amazing original techniques.....
