ok i got dsl working off a cd, and i downlorded boinc linx x86 verion now how do i open it? Put the downloaded file in your home folder. Open a terminal and type sh boinc* Then type cd BOINC ./run_client either run boinc manager in a separate terminal, or you may just run boinc manager by typing ./run_manager instead. Pam |

currently iam prepairing something like this for my self. What kind of pc do you want to use? how much ram is there? If you want the boinc manager like in w!nd00ws you need X window support, which costs memory. How do you want to save the WU is the PC is shut down? |

To get the downloaded boinc file to run, you must first give the command: chmod +x the_boinc_file_name_here (Just one of a few reasons why you don't get 'live' viruses on Linux! Even if a little annoying sometimes...) For a typing hint: if you type the first few letters of the filename, you can then press the tab key and the Linux shell should complete rest of the filename for you. Much faster than trying to type it all out! There's a very good "walk-through" showing what to do here.
