Message 582674 - Posted: 7 Jun 2007, 2:33:03 UTC - in response to Message 582520.

Oh no, not at all, I think it's great that you have got a response from Rytis and I appreciate your initiative.

I raised the question here, because I remember some have mentioned they would like to have the possibility to have separate filters for postings on the board and for receiving PM's and this thread is the one about PM's so I posted here.

In fact I have been in contact with Rytis before about some other issues with the PM feature, and I have opened a ticket for having separate filter lists myself, which David Anderson has answered to that he doesn't think it's necessary unless others than me request it. So this is the reason I'm asking here.

Hey Fuzzy,

Ok, I just didn't want to inundate Rytis with a bunch of people emailing him about the same things from different people, concidering how busy he's been. I think a seperate filter list is actaully a very good idea, I'll dig up your ticket and post that I like the idea as well. I can see how using it to block PM's from someone but still leaving it open for forum posts for you moderators would be very handy for you guys. I don't have anyone filtered, and I don't get PM's, which is nice too. LOL I just may have mis-understood your post, and I appologize for that. :-)

And thank you Michael Roberts for opening up a new thread for discussion, it makes it a lot easier to go through these posts to grab the ideas from all and put them in an email to send to Rytis.

Back to the topic. I'll be off at 4am again this morning, so when I get home, I'll take the latest suggestions and send them off to Rytis again.

I also think that a separate filter for PMs would be a good idea. As well as a separate switch for emails for same (separate from news updates).

Message 582707 - Posted: 7 Jun 2007, 3:21:24 UTC - in response to Message 582616.

Please concentrate on possible updates to the Private Message user interface in this thread.

I have started a new thread Use of Private Messages to discuss our use of PMs (both acceptable and unacceptable.) I have moved a few recent posts there.

Pants!! I thought I was responding to this thread but seems I was subjagated to a change of thread..

I'm darn confused.

Where am I?

Oh...

There is currently no indication to whom the message was sent. This is significant if it is sent to multiple recipients. (Not only do people write back and say "check with so-and-so too" when the message has been sent to both, but there could be bad misunderstandings if someone assumes that a message which has in fact been sent to several people was only sent to himself.)

I'd also like to request a 'I'm away feature'. For example, if I go away for a couple of weeks anyone sending a PM would get an automatic reply saying "Thanks for your message, but I'm away until 30th February. I'll get back to you when I can", or whatever message the recipient decides on.
