There seemed to be a problem with the servers today. The database was down (and has been brought back up again), so I think somebody gave it a good kicking. It should be working now - if not, try a reboot.

There are several causes for not requesting more work.

1) The project has enough work on the host to satisfy its portion of the queue. (S@H seems to have reset some connect every X values to 0.1 recently, check).

2) The project is in Earliest Deadline First. (There is a task that the client believes is in danger of being returned late).

3) There is a task that may be returned late, and the queue is full.

Hi Sydney,

Since SAH is the only project in this machine, go to the Projects tab and make sure the "No New Tasks" wasn't pressed accidentally. There should be a line in this tab for the SAH project, and if the Status column says "Won't get new tasks", select this line and press the "Allow new tasks" button.

If that doesn't work, try restarting BOINC. HTH,

According to Microsoft's website, the reason for an HTTP service unavailable error is due to the following possibilities:

•IIS cannot start any new worker processes because of limited system resources or because starting a new worker process would exceed the DemandStartThresholdproperty.
•Bandwidth throttling is enabled, but the filter addition fails.
•The control channel or internal configuration group for the URL is inactive.
•The send for a request that was serviced from the cache failed (typically under low memory conditions).

I know there were posts earlier with people saying the server went down again.

Note that if you have "Do work while computer is in use" set to "no", then BOINC will not download work while the user is active. It will wait until user is inactive before downloading.

Yes, indeed it's a server error, but when it will be solved? It has been weeks since it started and frankly I am very sad about the whole situation.

No sir, it's only been since yesterday. The servers have been running fine for over a week now before this issue, as everyone in the Number Crunching forum can attest to.

It's happening to me as well ...

I sent off my last batch recently, and am getting nothing back .... the scheduler keeps going "request pending", but nothing comes through.

No data, no processing.

Has something else gone pear-shaped?

I think the servers just need a good kicking. As soon as the staff gets into work this morning (PDT), I'm sure they'll take care of it.

Then there'll be a period of catch up while the newly rebooted servers will be pounded by requests from over a million clients. It'll probably take a day to catch up.

Exit & restart BOINC.
Getting work is next to impossible, but you can report reults & can contact the Scheduler. If you can't do either of those 2 things then you have some other problem.

What makes things even worse: My other computer gets work every day and doesn´t have any trouble at all :-(

Have you tried resetting the project? You might want to give that a try right now while you can still get through to the project fairly easily.

I noticed that the client was unable to contact the reference site. This means that BOINC is unable to get off of the host machine at all. The typical problems are:

1) Lack of internet connection.
2) Personal firewall not allowing BOINC off of the machine.
