I upgraded the client a few days ago to the latest version and since then it's been complaining about a missing DLL, libfftw3f-3-1-1a.dll, which it tries unsuccessfully to download.

Where can I find and download this file?

Well, I see you're running Crunch3r's Enhanced app, so I don't see why you even need it unless you still have references to the old 4x app in your app_info file.

Then it must be some old data stuck somewhere - perhaps in the app_info file, because this client I downloaded from Boinc download area.

Just looked in the app_info.xml and it does have references to version 4... How should it look now? Maybe I should reinstall with just defaults?

What does this DLL file do? Can I disable it in configuration if I don't need it?

OK, just study the format of the app_info file a bit and then remove all the sections that refer to a 4x application.

The dll in question is used by the stock app (both the original and enhanced) to perform the fast fourier transforms required to analyze the result.

In the optimized versions, the routines needed to do this are "built in" to the app executable, therefore they don't need a separate dll.

Thanks for the link. I did as you suggested there in that thread and went for alt. 2) - edited out all the v4 references, but it still tries (and fails) to download the DLL file. Error messages "No URL...". And I also get the same sympthom as the guy in that thread - the downloaded WU is "stuck in transfer". Its status is "Downloading". Actually it looks like it was downloaded Ok (from the message log) but now is suspended because it waits for the DLL file first.

So should I go for alt. 1) then, empty the cache and delete everything in the Project area? Or is it some easy way to enter the missing URL?

OK, I just checked your host and there doesn't seem to be any work in progress AFAICT, so I guess you could just try a project reset and see of that clears the pipes.

If you just delete everything in the project folder you'd have to "reinstall" the optimized app as well, so make sure you still have a copy of Crunch3r's if that's what you want to run, or you could go get the latest from the Coop.

Yeah, I aborted the WU that was hanging.

Coop? I installed the optimized app from KWSN: http://lunatics.at/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=60 ...but BoincMgr still nags about that missing DLL. :/

LOL, yep, that's the place The Chicken Coop, where the lunatics hang out.

Let me look into the dll bit some more.

<edit> Quick question, this is the host you're talking about?:

88069

I'm asking because I don't see any signs of an abort on the results list.

Yes, that's the host. I aborted the WU while it was hanging, right after download, before it got started to crunch. Maybe that's why it doesn't show as aborted?

It's the most recent WU showing status "Client error" I think. It was a successful abort on this end though. :)

OK, then there must be something still hanging around in the client_state file from the messed up WU, so set SAH to No New Work and then reset the project. Then shutdown BOINC and delete the contents of the SAH project folder. Next reinstall the app you got from the Coop, and restart BOINC.

After that when you turn work requests back on the nag about the dll should be gone and you should get a new result.
