Hello ! I just shifted from XPpro to VISTA HOME Premium , installed the latest bionic but when I try to get the work it says this : 2/12/2007 2:04:56 PM|SETI@home|Reason: no work from project is there a problem with server or is this VISTA related , so far I use the firewall from VISTA and I exclusively grant access manually so that it is not blocked. any advice is most welcome ! Where did you install it? If C:\\Program Files\\BOINC I have heard of issues using this folder, because of permissions. I would shutting down BOINC, copy files to C:\\BOINC and then reinstall over that folder. This seems to fix some of the issues. My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

Vista is reported to have "issues" with some software. See this thread for more. Some of the Seti servers were down for a few hours, see here or here for more. |

Where did you install it? If C:\\Program Files\\BOINC I have heard of issues using this folder, because of permissions. From some of the things I read, Vista locks down Program Files for data saving, which BOINC does. It wants the programs there, but the data in your personal directories. Even as an Administrator account. Putting in the root stops that permission lock. You can put it under whatever other directory besides the Program Files and/or the Windows directory. Even as an Administrator account. I believe this is only true while UAC is activated and the user account isn't set as administrator. I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 with UAC turned off and I'm running as Admin with BOINC installed to the \\Program Files(x86)\\BOINC folder without issue. [Note that all 32bit programs in 64bit Windows Vista get put into the Program Files(x86) folder while true 64bit apps are placed in the Program Files folder.] |

Even as an Administrator account. Yes, that is a UAC problem. Could you try attaching to another project to see if that one works (for diagnostic purposes - if that one works, it is probably a server issue as there have been some of those). BOINC WIKI |

Yes, that is a UAC problem. If I attach to another project, which one would help find a cure for diabetes? Just in case I decide to keep the project.... |

Yes, that is a UAC problem. Not certain that anyone is working on that specifically, however, the best bets are Proteins, World Community Grid, and Rosetta. However, Proteins has not always been a reliable source of work, so for this test, I would suggest WCG or Rosetta. BOINC WIKI |

Tasks have been downloaded and are currently crunching without issue. |

That indicates to me that it is a server side problem with S@H (and they have been having a few recently). BOINC WIKI |

I just started using Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Found I could goto the "properities" of the c:\\program Files\\Bionic Folder and change the 'Securities' settings. Giving my account all 'rights'. AND.... I went to the .exe files of the Bionic program and set them to emulate WinXP. Bionic seems to run fine now. Have Fun Roy |
