Hi! I have posted what appears to me to be numerous "exited with zero status but no 'finished' files." Do I need to reset the project? This question has probably been answered many times but I would appreciate anyone's help on this as I just started working on SETI@Home using BOINC and I am not that knowledgable about computers. Thank you! Jim Curtis jhcis@dslextreme.com 5.8.11 (and .12 .13 .14) has this problem. Fixed in 5.8.15 |

I recently downloaded BOINC and started running a SETI@home project. This may be a redundant post but I would appreciate any further clarification. I have had numerous "exited with zero status but no 'finished' file" messages in the last few days but I certainly don't want to reset if I don't have to. I am also concerned about "overheating" with the CPU. My processor is listed below. Should I set the CPU rate lower than 100% or am I worrying more than I should? Also, if I choose "no new tasks" will I be able to easily download more when I get caught up? Lastly, Can I pick which "Work Unit" to work on? The Work Units that are due first are halfway down the list and I would like to run the Work Units in order of when they are due. I started with a "5 day" cache and probably took on more work than I can handle over the long run. Thanks in advance for any advice from someone who has much more experience than I in these matters. 2/27/2007 6:09:17 PM||Starting BOINC client version 5.8.11 for windows_intelx86 2/27/2007 6:09:17 PM||log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 2/27/2007 6:09:17 PM||Libraries: libcurl/7.16.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8a zlib/1.2.3 2/27/2007 6:09:17 PM||Data directory: C:\\Program Files\\BOINC 2/27/2007 6:09:17 PM||Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.20GHz [x86 Family 15 Model 6 Stepping 4] [fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 mmx] 2/27/2007 6:09:17 PM||Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 3.85 GB virtual 2/27/2007 6:09:17 PM||Disk: 224.88 GB total, 171.94 GB free 2/27/2007 6:09:18 PM|SETI@home|URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID: 3112738; location: (none); project prefs: default 2/27/2007 6:09:18 PM||General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2007-02-27 01:27:11) 2/27/2007 6:09:18 PM||Host location: none 2/27/2007 6:09:18 PM||General prefs: using your defaults 2/27/2007 6:10:11 PM|SETI@home|Restarting task 16oc03aa.18157.738.679814.3.254_2 using setiathome_enhanced version 515 2/27/2007 6:10:11 PM|SETI@home|Restarting task 16oc03aa.18157.738.679814.3.246_3 using setiathome_enhanced version 515 2/27/2007 6:27:12 PM||Suspending computation - user is active 2/27/2007 6:27:13 PM|SETI@home|Task 16oc03aa.18157.738.679814.3.254_2 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 2/27/2007 6:27:13 PM|SETI@home|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 2/27/2007 6:27:13 PM|SETI@home|Task 16oc03aa.18157.738.679814.3.246_3 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 2/27/2007 6:27:13 PM|SETI@home|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 2/27/2007 6:49:36 PM||Resuming computation |
