I'm interested in other peoples RAC's with dual cores. I've posted a couple of times about my results that I think are strange and also noticed someone saying they were getting a consistent 1200+ with dual cores. I recently switched cores from one machine to another, so my results are a little skewed, but... AMD DC 4600, 2 g ram RAC 863 AMD DC 3800, 2 G ram, RAC 658 I have other machines but these two only crunch data. |

Core Duo T2400: RAC = 225.17 running stock sharing 50/50 w/EAH. Host is new so may go higher on the stock app, but is getting a Chicken powered upgrade soon. ;-) Alinator |

Core 2 Duo E6600 running at 2.88 GHz with 1 GB PC800 = 1766 RAC with Chicken Soup. Well, could be a little higher (I think it maxes out at about 2,000 RAC), but it's my working PC, and it's running Seti-Beta about 10% of the time :) Andy |

My best bang/buck system - Pentium-D 805 (2.66 stock) @ ~4 GHz - RAC 1350 with KWSN R-2.0B apps, total system cost: 380 USD, uses a lot of power though. Various other PD systems ranging from ~800 (PD 8xx 3.2 GHz, DDR2-400, yeah DDR2 that's slower than DDR...thanks Dell) to ~1200 (PD 945 @ 3.4 GHz with DDR2-667 and PD-960 @ 3.6 GHz with DDR2-533). The fun part is that my self-built PD945 is quicker than the Dell-built PD960s with 200 MHz quicker CPUs, and that's all due to the RAM. My self-built system has DDR2-667 from Corsair with good timings, which costs a bit more than generic RAM but is worth it. A general rule of thumb, whether running stock or overclocking - memory bandwidth is always a good thing. Having a few less total MHz but quicker RAM usually performs better overall, especially on SETI@Home. HTH, Simon. Donate to SETI@Home via PayPal! Optimized SETI@Home apps + Information |

Core duo T2600, 2gb ram. Current rac is 925 but the computer was off a bit, normal complete dedicated seti RAC is around 1000. |

I was an Intel man (up until my 233MMX) until AMD took the stand and overtook Intel in processing/buck with the Athlons. OC'd many of them (power hungry lil' sob's) until the core 2 came upon the scene. Paradigm shift! The core 2's have so much more floating point power than the Athlons. And more power efficient, too. It's gonna be an interesting 2007 as far as processors are concerned, but I'm not sure my bank account is gonna keep up with cutting edge anymore. I don't follow most of the cat fight AMD vs Intel. I bought AMD because these are my business machines, I'm still poor and needed the best bang for the buck. Intel was, and is, way to expensive. |

My core 2 Duo has BOINC RAC of about 1000, split on Seti 750, SetiBeta 100 and Einstein 150. As it is actually my sons machine it does get BOINC suspended frequently when he plays demanding games. The RAC on Beta will probably rise quite a bit, probably up to 250, as it was only attached there last w/end when Seti and Einstein were both down and Beta was still working. So estimate an RAC of 2000 would be easily reached if it crunched consistently 24/7, on Seti using chicken soup. |

How come, I've seen C2D 6300's listed cheaper than AMD64 X2 4400's, they overclock very easily and even at stock speed will out perform the AMD's with ease. Just look at the Stats Top computers. And they use less power, so even cheaper in the long run. Andy |

my x2 3800+ @ 2.6ghz is sitting at aout 920RAC at the moment with one of the lunatics.at apps. i'm wishing i'd have gone C2D though. my problem was that i went AM2 the second my work got them in because at the time we didn't have solid pricing on the C2D's let alone an availability time table. so being the impatient person i can be i went am2 and about 1 month later we got a crap load of c2d's in. now there are office machines out there that will be sitting idle most of the time with more cpu power than my main rig here has. well now i am being patient and am waiting to see what AMD comes out with in terms of quad core in the next year. if i don't like the amd option i'll have to bite the bullet and spring for a cpu and board to go c2q instead of just getting a cpu. i know that doesn't sound to big to some of you, but i really gotta watch my spending because of school. anyway, sorry for the rambling. ![]() |

I have a bunch. Feel free to look. The only OC is my quad, which I ran here recently. But it's currently on another project. Dublin, California Team: SETI.USA ![]() |

Well I have (2) C2D and will most likely be replacing my PD805 with another as they pull much less power for the RAC. C2D E6300@2.8Ghz 1600RAC C2D E6300@3.2Ghz 1800RAC PD 805@3.2Ghz 850RAC Personally I think as they overclock so easy the C2D are the second coming when it comes to DC projects. I got my E6300 for $150(OEM) and $170(retail). They OC to 2.8Ghz on the stock cooler with a good board (I use Gigabyte 965P-DS3 $130) and DDR2-800 ram ($200 for 2GB as ram is expensive). |
