Message 535717 - Posted: 23 Mar 2007, 23:29:18 UTC - in response to Message 535582.

This is the picture of the car and where it has been used!
Looks like the 15Km sounds about rite!

I would guess that the car was needed when it got so stormy that the lighthouse keeper would be blown into the sea if he tried walking to his supply ship.

That or he was a lazy bugger.

I expect the car is a bit rusty with all that salt air getting to it.

Does it have air conditioning?

This is a very historic event for the team. This event will

Thank you folks for the support.

It seems that PADDY'S IN SPACE will make it over the million much sooner than i thought.

We should go over the 1,000,000 mark in about 3 hours time.

We had a few new members joined bumping my time calculation.

I'm quite kid friendly, I have nephews and nieces!

http://homepage.eircom.net/~bunrattywinery/historypotcheen.htm

The reason I'm being a little bit Irish today is that my Uncle has just researched some amazing news about our family history.

Thomas Stephens - B 1795 - Glencastle, Kilcommon parish, County Mayo, Eire
Anthony Stephens - B 1819 - Glencastle, Kilcommon parish, County Mayo, Eire
Thomas Stephens - B 1856 - Glencastle, Kilcommon parish, County Mayo, Eire

The first Thomas is my great great great great, grandfather. My brother and I are seriously thinking of making a trip to Eire this summer to see if we can find out more.

And there was we thinking we were sarf lunnon through and through. Not only that, apparently Anthony was a school teacher! A bit of a weird day guys!!!

WOW, now you can get a part of the Irish luck, congratulations indeed. :-D

And for the kids, I'm sure there's a lot of single mothers out there who would love to get a helping hand with their ill-mannered offspring...

EDIT - apparently the whole family emigrated to to England in 1860 settling in Huntingdonshire.

Thanks to all for the support, i do appreciate it.

Chris S, well done to you also. The 1,000,000 mark is a super achievment. I look forward to hearing that you made is safely over the mark.

Chris S, that is interesting about your family history. You have quite a bit of Irish blood in your family. Chris, if you are coming for a trip to Ireland, why not look me up. I live in the south east, Waterford, not too far from rosslare port if you are traveling on the ferry. If you are doing some touring around, try to plan part of your trip in this direction. I would be happy to guide you around the area for a day if you were stopping through. If you want to think about it, you can e-mail me with your thoughts; paddysinspace (AT) hotmail.com

It can be nice to meet other folks with a similar interest.

Thanks very much for the offer and I think it quite likely that we could take you up on that. My dad and my brother and I intended to go to Ireland last summer on a "boys" trip. Firstly to sample a REAL pint of Guinness, and secondly to visit the waterford crystal factory, as I know a certain lady who is heavily into collecting crystal. We thought that we could make a dual trip out of it. It is quite handy to know that you are based down there!!!

Secondly, now that we know about the Glencastle connection there is an even better reason for coming over. It would mean visiting both the NW and the SE but I'm sure we could manage it. I'll get back to you when we've made some arrangements.

I've already met Emse(ES99)and Mike, and very pleasant it was too. As you say similar interests and all that. Lets hope it can happen. I'll email you when I have anything.

Chris (apparently vaguely irish?)

The Waterford Crystal factory tour is one of the most popular things that people like to see in Ireland. Its the real thing. Out on the factory floor watching them cut the crystal by hand, realy cool stuff, incredible skill. Save the e-mail address for when you plan your trip.

John.
