Hello!

Do you have a Mac Mini with Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo with 1,66 or 1,83GHz?

And you let run him 24/7?

Maybe you let run Alex Kan´s application?

You have no problems with the cooling/ overheating?

I saw on some pictures that the hot airflow will go from the middle laterally through the CPU heatsink and on the back out of the Mac Mini...
Where he get the new (cold :-) air?

From the all sides around the box?
(On the bottom around of the box there are small openings/ splits... (I saw... or for what are they?))

And he is quiet, when you let run S@H 24/7 or the fan "make loud music"... ;-)

Greetings!

Hello!

Is here nobody who have a Mac Mini who can answer me? :-(

I know, from the overview (boincstats.com & berkeley) that there are a few around! :-)

A small question to the others...
How much power consumption have your Mac Mini?
On a test a saw 43 Watt (full load), that is however very improbable, or?

Greetings!

Several test in PC magazines indeed show a power consumption of 40 Watts (full load without CD/DVD). And it is pretty quiet, fans run with approx. 2300 rpm. Don't know about SETI performance (don't run it). Nice machine, really ...

Hello!

Thanx for reply!

...but I think it's little bit not to believe a so small power consumption...

About the performance I said here a little bit... :-)

I hope somebody who have a Mac Mini will see this thread too! :-)

Greetings!

Remember, the mac mini is just made up of mac laptop guts, with a different mobo.

Hi Dirk

I am running Seti 24/7 on an old G4 1.25GHz MacMini and there is no problem with overheating or strong noise... Very stable and productive using Alex Kans applications.

The Intel version should be even more quiet and consuming less Power...
I want to wait until the Core 2 Duo version comes out before I buy one... ;-)

Hello!

The Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo with 1,66 or 1,83GHz is available now! :-)

When I let run only S@H, how much memory is needed/ will be good?
Because on my AMD K8 3200+, SUSE Linux 10.1 -64Bit in KDE, OS & S@H use nearly the whole 768MB...
In console only ~420MB...

2x512MB will be good? (every Core(TM) 512MB:-)

Greetings!

BTW. I can use 'Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger' in two "versions" like Linux, too?

Ooops...

I'm working to much... I'm tired...

This CPU will come? The T7200? In the Mac mini? When?

I have a MacBook with the 2 GHz Core Duo with 1,25 GB memory.
The crunching times are about 2.5 hours for a standard angle rate WU (about 60 or 65 credits). - It outperforms the 3 GHZ P4 very well.
For normal working 512 could be OK. But after I have upgraded to 1,25 GB memory is lot performanter for working.

If you post your questions to the MacOS Help Desk Forums you could get a lot of more awnsers, because a lot of peoples only read the MacOS Forums.

The MacBook, MacBook Pro and iMacs are are available with Core 2 Duo CPUs. But I am not shure if/when the Mac Mini will be released with the new CPU.

Do you have a web link for one of these tests?

Since the core duo is rated at 35W you'd need near 100% power supply efficiency to get at 40W (from mains, that is....)

Merom is rated at 35 Watts, Yonah is still 31 Watts. I don't have a web link, I read it in c't. And even if it consumes 45 or 50 Watts in total it is still a great cruncher in relation to it's power consumption.

True. Will be even better with the Core 2.

I'll have to check out these iMac power supplies :o)

I found the test here

They say, he is quiet, ...but 35dBA...?

My K8 box have fans with ~15dBA (120cm fans on ~6.5V, 900 to 1,000RPM) and for me it's loud music... :-)

Greetings!

35 dBA unter Vollast UND kaum hörbar. Sagt alles, oder?
Das Ding ist wirklich leise, kein Vergleich zu meinen PCs. Und der Mini steht 40 cm neben meinem Ohr!

Sorry for posting in german!

Looks like the mac Mini power supply only delivers 18.5V DC. The voltage regulators for 12/5/3.3V are sitting on the mainboard.
