I've downloaded quite a few work units but Boinc will not start working on them. It appears that Boinc still thinks that they are in the process of being downloaded when in fact they have been downloaded. Does anyone have a solution here that will get Boinc to start crunching wu's? Thanks. |

Care to tell us how you fixed it? You aren't the only one with the problem (I am getting it with both SETI and Predictor.) |

I got Boinc 4.x to start processing wu's by first closing down Boinc. Right click on the Boinc icon and select "properties", click on the "Compatibility" tab and check the box "Run this program in compatiblity mode" and select "Windows 2000" from the drop down menu. Click "apply" and "Ok" and restart Boinc. Magic!!! You're now running Boinc version 4.x. |

I had the same problem but it wasn't related to SP2 specifically. I installed SP2 before I installed BOINC (I had just formatted the comptuer and did all the updates first). When I upgraded BOINC I uninstalled/reinstalled with the new version. The problem was related to touchy servers not downloading the pdb and exe files correctly I think. I think all I did was reattach to the project. I might have reinstalled it again, but I don't think I took it that far. In any case, there are no special settings that I changed to get it to run. I've had no problems with XPSP2 but I agree with Chris if it seems to stick with DL'ing a work unit either reset or detach and then reattach that'll sort the problem.. That just leaves you with a "stuck" workunit on the DB but these should clear themselves once the deadlines are hit. DavidJaymz.com |
