There is an article in the unofficial BONIC Wiki about the calculation of the RAC.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Andy

I believe it is roughly 1/2 the past week's credits plus 1/4 the previous week's credits + 1/8 the third week back's credits and so forth, all divided by seven to express it as a daily rate.

I didn't even know what RAC meant - I do now!

So basically those with higher RACs are crunching data at a higher rate.

Thanks for the info. I was also interested in how RAC was calculated.

Thanks,
Chris.

Data crunch rate is proportional to the RAC with the provision that RAC is a delayed and smoothed measure of average daily credit. RAC is analogous to the exponential moving average (I believe) of the price (or other characteristic) of a stock, commodity, bond index or the Dow, etc. It shows a (delayed) trend of that price, etc, while the price itself hops up and down like its posterior is on fire.

Remember RAC also means, validated units. So units that are not yet validated are not calculated. This is what causes fluctuation. You may send back 50 results a day, one day get all 50 validated, one day only have 20 validated. So the RAC will bounce sometimes by pretty good numbers. Outages also affect this number.

So, use it only as a half hearted guideline. If it drops a lot, start looking around to see what factors have happened, if nothing like an outage, or a lot of extra pending, then start seeing if a machine has been hosed.

It's a nice theory number, but not very good for accuracy.

Think of it as a speedometer, the faster you crunch and get units credited, the higher your rac. It is cumulative, so the more cpus on the same account the higher the rac. Click on my name on the left and you will be able to see that I have 22 pc's crunching, hence the high rac.

I just checked you most recent results and I noticed the optimized app stil is not showing up. You need to recheck the installation of the optimized app. Make sure you read the readme.txt file.

Nearly all 32 bit apps will run on x64, unless the installation program doesn't recognise the OS and won't continue!
Simon's 32 bit apps do run on x64.

I verified this last night when I did a dual boot with x64 and installed Chicken's apps on my E6300. It will be interesting to compare the results to the 32-bit whenever Boinc finally downloads them.
