I run the latest version of BOINC (5.4.11) on at least 3 machines. 2 out of the 3 machines will display the screen save appropriatly for my preferences (all computers use the same preferences).

The one machine that doesn't display the screen save, will open a small window with the seti display when the 'show graphics' button is pressed. The screen saver CAN be seen through a remote desktop connection to the pc. And if you click 'preview' the screen saver in the settings area, once boinc becomes active the screen saver can be seen there as well. However, once the screen save kicks in itself, it goes right to a blank screen, monitor still on (not a 'power settings' issue).

I have verified DirectX 9c as well as installed the very latest drivers for my video card (ATI X800XL AGP).

I would very much like to find a solution to this, and the main reason for my post was to contribute some of my findings so that perhaps it will be easier to fix for upcoming releases.

Everything else you posted is already known about the screen saver issue, but I, myself was unaware that you could see it through remote desktop connections (please keep in mind I'm not a BOINC programmer).

I only hope that this provides some clue as to what the problem might be so that they can fix it. Many people love running the screen saver, even if it takes away CPU cycles, and getting the screen saver to work properly would probably be beneficial to the project overall.
