Just installed the current version over the old. Trying to get some work. It requests a scheduler then three seconds later it gives me the old "No schedulers responded". I'm on dialup....three seconds before it times out? Be serious. Anyone have thoughts on the matter? In prefs I have it set so it should know I'm using a modem. If I can't get it changed to something in the thirty second range for it to wait before timimg out then I'll have to be finally done with seti. Running WinXp (SP1). Thanks..john |

Strange things. What I did (am the original poster) was to remove BOINC entirely, then reboot. Reinstalled after killing all my extra programs. Rebooted. Machine stopped loading during the boot process after loading BOINC. Killed all processes until all I had were system processes running. Still no luck. Tried rebooting. Machine still stopped during the boot process. Reboot, 'F8', "Safe Mode", took BOINC out of my startup folder. Reboot...same lockup. Reboot, 'F8", "last good configuration", reboot, machine works. Killed everything, reinstalled BOINC. Came up fine this time...I dunno. Presently BOINC is connected, d/l'ed the new win client, now d/l'ing w/us. I would guess something went wrong on the two original installs. No longer have the initial problem of too little time waiting for a scheduler to respond. Again, I dunno. I'll run it for awhile to see if the program works properly..if not then its back to classic for a couple more weeks. thanks..john |
