Are these machines Overclocked? Those results are way higher than mine...Maybe I will need my water and Peltiers back...

Stock, but as you can see - the claimed credits are identical to other claimed credit -
The app developed by Daniel S. and Chicken are nearly identical in speed.

Thank you. Wonder why your times are twice as fast as mine...I see Steve Akers are where I would have expected, didn't expect a D3.0 to be twice as fast as me. Hmmm, more research....

Well these are dedicated crunchers that is all they do - I have removed all non-esential programs.
I also use fast DDR2 RAM 1024 Mhz - OZ2 ? don't recall the exact type.
These are NOT the fastest machines around.. those are owned by Xaak from BBR.

That host is using trux' BOINC client and so is not reporting the real CPU seconds taken. I checked on one of my hosts that was running the same, and it did not match the real times using an enhanced client correctly at all (neither corrected cpu time nor real cpu time as reported by trux' client).

That's not to put down trux' excellent work :o) It's just that stats it reports for enhanced are slightly wacky.

HTH,
Simon.

THank you for pointing that out Chicken,, I forgot I had trux on these guys...
I have not remembered to upgrade to the new Boinc app - I will upgrade next chance I get.

I don't care about who has the fastest machine....that's not what this is supposed to be about. I DO however care about whether the rigs I have are running the most efficient code available (this is where the chicken comes in) so they are contributing the most SCIENCE they can. (Some of you have forgotten that this is what it's all about). Or some of you never really understood it to begin with. The points race is a fun game, but wouldn't it be a shocker to find out that "WE ARE NOT ALONE"??????

It's really simple.

Any "leverage" SETI.USA got by keeping their version(s) to themselves is pretty much negated by Simon's decision to make his apps. 100% public.

So, why argue?

SETI.USA didn't do anything wrong. It would have been nice if they released their app. publically, but they didn't. They have that right.

Simon did -- 'nuff said.

Or you could just turn off calibration for SAH if you needed the other advanced features for a different project.

No reason to have the calibrate function anymore for any project right now, I only really ever used the calibrate function for seti@home anyway, just forgot to remove it.
Good point, but since there is a new release of Boinc, guess I should get busy and upgrade.

My take on the situation is that I'm very glad it worked out in a fashion that there's more than one person with the licensed compilers needed to produce the best optimized apps.

I will also be pleased if there's some friendly competition to see who can use those tools most effectively, and/or find additional code optimizations.

What voltage are you at on that 165? What memory do you use? I should be able to get a lot more out of mine...Can't boot windows with much more.
Wonder how I can quit posting as Patswan...I am hiamps.

My guess is Patswan was the last person to login to SAH on the machine you're posting from. Try logging out from the "Your Account" page and log back in as hiamps.

My computers are not hidden - help yourself.

Steve just to keep things on the up and up here....I have a computer similar to yours, the P4D840 3.2ghz, the only difference is mine is a EE, meaning HT on each core for a total of 4 cpus. You are I are not doing the same exact units but we ARE getting almost identical times crunching the units we are crunching!!
You are using the Seti.USA version and I am using Simon's version. I am not sure there is a whiskers difference between us, on these machines.

Interesting thread. :)

[... cut by allo.ch]

In the days of TruXoft and Crunch3r...L'Alliance Francophone had a Team application. They did not publicly announce here they had an application (it had a modest higher calibration than TruXoft). But if one looked hard enough, it could be found. (Note: I discoverd this the same way KWSN-Chciken discovered ours.) Just another example of Matt trying to find a way to say SETI.USA is bad blah blah blah...really it is getting old.

Is it :
http://lunatics.at/index.php?module=Downloads;catd=7

???

I've installed this application. It's really great.

For 61 Credits:
- on a pentium IV. Before = 115'000 second. After: 25'000 seconds
- on a Dual Core T2050@1.60 GHz. Before= 27'000 seconds. After= 11'000 seconds.

Have fun ;-)
