My Opteron and P4 3.0 are at home and the 1.8 is at my store next door. The opty is my play machine...kind of a hobby, the 3.0 is the kids.

Over here in the bean patch, all Genuine Intel:

233MHz MMX 96MB
333MHz Celeron 192MB
500MHz P3 500MB
3GHz HT P4 1GB

First and the last I bought (9 years apart), and the other
2 were cast-offs to which I've supplied a loving home and
regular feedings of 120VAC.

I have 4 systems I run...all at home, and I own all of them (although my daughter might argue about one of them...she would lose though).

From slowest to fastest:
AMD Athlon 1333 mhz - Win2k system...dedicated cruncher
AMD XP1600+ - WinXP Pro...primarily a cruncher, but also does video+print server
AMD XP1700+ - WinXP Pro...My daughter uses it for games, etc. and it crunches
AMD XP2600+ - WinXP Pro...My system: primarily video processing and crunching, plus my finances and other stuff I do.

None of my computers at home is capable of running BOINC. One of them could be upgraded to do so, but at a cost of several times its total market value …

But I’m saving up for a G5 …

Here is a similar link from the LHC forums.
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=1876

Here is a link from the Classic SETI at home days.
http://bhs.broo.k12.wv.us/homepage/staff/seti/farms.htm

I have many friends and family running BOINC for me.

My core setup or rather my "personal farm" that is truly "at home"

1. AMD XP 3200....my original gaming box, water cooled.
2. AMD X2 4400....my current gaming box, water cooled.
3. AMD X2 3800....my wifes family picture suppository box, water cooled.
4. AMD 64 3200....the Kids barbie game box/virus and spyware storage system.
5. Intel P4 3.0ghz HT....$100 cruncher.
6. Intel Dual Xeon 2.8 HT on water cooling.
7. Intel Dual P3 800mhz Lancewood system....my original fileserver.
8. Intel Sabre 8 Xeon 550mhz 2mb L2 server....geeky goodness with 8 gigs of ram.
9. Dell 2500sc Dual P3 1.0ghz....my current fileserver with 6 73gig SCSI's.
10. 2 each Dell 2550 Dual P3 1.0ghz....soon to add a third stooge!
11. Dreaming of Dual core Opteron/Woodcrest crunching rig !!!
12. Still dreaming of a Dell 8450 with 8 900mhz 2mb L2 procs in my rack.
My farm is always evolving and changing.
I like the enterprise class hardware and the rackmount server schtuff.
They are reliable, redundant components and my farm keeps the garage warm in the winter.
I have learned a lot about networking and all the horrors of managing a household with 11 systems networked.
.....and yes, my power bill is over $200 a month.

Just for balance. I don't crunch on any machine that isn't actively "in use" for exactly this reason.

My workstation is generally my only cruncher -- I do "stress test" with SETI, but those are temporary. It's an Athlon XP 3000+ on a decent if not wonderful motherboard.

... and as a result, I kick a little cash SETI-ward from time to time.

Two Pentium D950s with XpPro but they only yield about 500+ RAC apiece with the slow default numbercruncher. Also the memory, Corsair Value Select 667 DDR2, has a CAS latency of a slow 5, which may act as an additional drag. Only if I can get Simon's (Chicken of Angnor) cruncher to work when it's released. Compare these to Gurra's Conroe which has a RAC of around 3,000 with Crunch3r's cruncher.

Vista Beta 2 is available for public download, TheMariahNet Network.

Go grab your copy at microsoft.com (unless they already shut it down again, but AFAIK it's still open).

Simon.

Here is what I got there...
"Thank you for your interest in Windows Vista. The Customer Preview Program is now closed. We have reached our program capacity and no new orders are being accepted. We apologize for any inconvenience."

But doing a google search did find sites still offering...Does it run seti any faster? Did the beta for XP64 and bought it. But can't really see any increases.
