Can we have Crunch3r back somehow as he has contributed a lot to BOINC projects.

NO, he has said he is on to Einstein and other projects.
IF you are looking for his optimised versions of the Boinc software, there is someone else doing that and they are almost done with the Windows version. They are in the testing phase now. The Linux version is available here: http://www.zadra.org/seti_enhanced/. The Windows version should be available thru the same website when it is ready.
