Hey Jim, if you were to get some mb's in the mail what would you do with them? They would include cpus but nothing else. Of course the books would be included.
I have a couple that need a good home. They are AMD Duron 1400's but the cpu is soldered on. They are just sitting on a shel right now and worked fine when I replaced them. They are just too slow for my ranch. If I kept everything I would have to expand to another set of shelves, I am at 2 sets now and could easily do 3 if I took all the machines off the floor. I have been replacing mb's with faster ones so the costs stay down. All the other parts are mostly compatable, memory being the exception.

Hey Mikey

If Jim does not want them, you could send the boards this way, always could use more machines on the farm, lol.

I will pay shipping of course.

Hi Mikey,
I just talked to a friend last night (his name's Mikey too!) and he says he'll help me get the memory etc. He says that's no problem, and he will help with cases, etc. also.
BTW, I can pay for shipping on these, but you will need to let me know how much so I can send you a money order and it will have to be after the first of the month. (On disability). My email is jrosstheman at bellsouth dot net

If you are RICH RICH RICH, I have a several hundred pound server I can let you have. It is a quad xenon 550mhz server that the USGovernment used to own. I got it free and it crunches fine. It is here: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=2268008
But it IS a basement warmer and an energy HOG!
Shipping would be OUTRAGEOUS! I am considering putting it on ebay for local pickup ONLY.

Any more of this "you said" ... "no, you said" 'communication' and this whole thing will never go away.

I ask of everyone to stop pointing fingers at the other and to communicate in a decent way. So far the moderation has not moderated much in threads like these, but maybe it is time we started to.

So please, if you have something to say, try doing it within reason and let bygones be bygones. One day you'll all have to learn to live together on these forums, come what may. So why not start today?

I say, that sometimes I get a good laugh here in a way.

However, some people said that I said things in a way I did not say.
But I agree that let's start today.
There must be a way
that we can come together some day,
live happily, post nicely, and be okay.
That's what I say.
The empire must pay!
LOL just kidding, okay?
I must now swift away.
Off to work, down the bay.
At night, without a sun ray
Sad as it may
that everynight is my work day.
But I'll be okay.
Have a good night and a good day!

Sure Mikey

Never turn down boards. I either recycle them into the farm, or recycle them into a free or very low cost system for some family that does not own a computer at all.

eBay is a BAD idea: visit http://freecycle.org, find the Freecycle group(s) local to you, join it/them, and then OFFER: it to the group. I'll guarantee you it'll be claimed by someone within an hour, tops. There won't be any humongous shipping cost, because the person getting it from you will be getting it from you directly and taking it home in their own transportation.

I do belong to the one near me, I have gotten and given several things. I had not thought of that, I will have to think about that, thanks.

No, I Have been looking and it is a no name, at least on the outside, big honking thing with 4 casters. It has quad xeon 550mhz processors and 12 18gig scsi hard drives. It even has a Sony tape drive in it. The case ahs a serial number on it though: Z01013075. It was assembled in the US. I want to say it was made by Aspen Systems but am not sure.

What was the link to download Cruncher again?

And when we run it, is there any graphical image of some kind of progress bar for each work units worked on?

Are we going to be in trouble for running any old version type of Cruncher? Or is there a problem running an older version Cruncher??

The reason I ask is because I've concluded that was the standard BOINC app crashing one of my computers. Even after reinstallation. I don't know why, but I'm throwing a wet towel at this one man at his locker as I yell "What's that smell?"

Crunch3r has removed the program from his site. www.marisan.nl/seti has also removed it. BUT they do have a note up as of June 11th "PEOPLE ARE WORKING ON NEW OPTIMIZED APPLICATIONS (June 11th, 2006)"

One of the first things all optimizers have done is to compile without the graphics. That eliminates a fair amount of code.

If a particular version is required, the project will set that as a minimum. For now there may be no minimum set, just any setiathome_enhanced application.

I presume you meant standard science app, if you think BOINC is the problem you might try the Trux version...
