No, you can get optimised versions of the enhanced program from Crunch3r's new site - as has been discussed on many other threads.

Make sure you download the new app_info.xml as well - separate download link - and you should increase the version number to at least <version_num>515</version_num> because of project changes since Crunch3r released the optimised applications 12 days ago.

You can delete your app_info.xml file and run the enhanced application which is already highly optimized or you can get an application that has been optimized specifically for your particular cpu and instruction set. However using the optimized clients won't give you the up to 300% speed improvement over the standard enhanced application as the standard seti 4.18 did. This is due to the above mentioned fact that the enhanced application has taken advantage of all of the tricks to optimizing the application that were used in the previous optimized applications. This makes the application much faster than an unoptimized app and also makes the "optimized" applications give only a 20-40% speed increase.

All of the splitters are splitting only enhanced wu's. So there are no more 4.x wu's being split. There may be a few floating around as reissues for lost or errored out wu's and there may even be a few left in the queue waiting to be sent, but no new ones are being created.

Some were using an optimized 4.x client. Because it had a file blocking the ability to download the enhanced, so those people ran out of work. Until they fixed that file, or removed it, they could not get work.

I have one P4 HT machine which has had a 4.x-only app_info.xml for the last week. During most of that time it was asking for non-enhanced work about once an hour. Even before the final splitter shutdown, it only got new work about once every four or five tries (an hour apart). But now it has gotten zero new work in almost three days. So if primary (as opposed to re-issue) non-enhanced work is not gone, it sure has gotten pretty scarce.

But yes, for a while there you could get turned down pretty often even though there apparently was work ready to go in the system somewhere.
