Hi Beethoven! :-D Funny, you should mention gemstones, as I'm into gemstones. I don't know what you call those polished pebbles, but a lot of people like to have one or two in their pockets to touch. I use the raw crystals and sometimes the polished ones, depending on what I can get. Not all crystals are available in their crystalforms. I do actually have some raw diamonds in their cubic crystal structure. And I have some facetted gemstones also. A couple of years ago I inherited some money from my aunt, and as my other aunt took care of her estate, I never was offered anything to remind me of her. So I spent some of her money to have a necklace done, and in this I had a facetted emerald, I had, put in. So I had this made in her memory. It's very beautiful, the jeweller did a good job in the design. And I love perfumes. Always have, and my exhusband used to buy perfumes for me in the airports, when he was out on business travels. Yes, the femi-nazis from the 70' really didn't like anything feminine, and bras, make-up, and perfume were banned by them as no-no's. I don't know, I don't see myself as less feministic even I like to wear make-up and perfumes. I have many, and I like to use one every day, depending on what mood I'm in that day. My alltime favorites are Je Reviens from Worth, Opium from Yves Saint-Laurent, Ivoire from Balmain, and some from Estee Lauder, Beautiful, Her Private Collection, and White Linen. And some less known such as Duende from Juan Del Pozo and Spring Fever from Origins. And last year I bought one from Moschino, Cheap and Chick, and for my birthday this year I bought Summer By Kenzo. And now I've bought those four from Kenzo. I even like to use some men's fragrances but as deodorants, as they give a different impression. I had one from Pierre Cardin, and now I have a couple from Van Gils, Strictly for Men (HA!), and Between Sheets. And the one I bought today, L'Eau Par Kenzo pour homme is very good too. So I'm very much into perfumes and make-up. It may sound like I'm "high maintenance", but I'm not. I'm a jeans and sweatshirt, skirt and t-shirt kind of gal, and if I need a dress, I buy some fabric and sew it myself. I like though to wear clothes of natural fibres, cotton, wool, and silk, sometimes flax, and I have found a shop here, where I can buy clothes of 100% raw silk for very little money. I've just bought a t-shirt, a skirt, and a pair of pants of raw silk for less than US$25! And it is very easy to maintain, even it needs to be washed with different detergent, but I put it in the washing machine and even tumble dry it (at low temperature, of course). So perfumes and make-up for me! :-D "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

Heyas Mike! Just stepped in the door myself five minutes ago. Fuzzy's gonna kill me, I said I'd post back in a couple of hours, but one errand led to another today. Fuzzy, are you still there? |

Heyas Mike! Yes, I'm playing some rounds of Sudoku while listening to music, and I'm off to bed soon. No, I won't kill you, why should I? It's only rumours that I would do that. Never mind. I also lose the thread myself sometimes, it's only human and we're all humans. "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

Heyas Fuzzy! I'm having a bad Google day. I tried to find you the name of an excellent custom perfumer. He concocts for all the Hollywood stars btw, and what's interesting about his work is that he has a number of natural scents, like an "earth" scent (Sharon Stone's favorite), a "freshwater" scent and other natural scents that are intriguing while not being too sugary. Obsession perfume is dear to my heart, because along with Chanel No. 5, it was my mother's favorite perfume. I bought a bottle of it along with my other gifts for her every Mother's Day. I always liked its sweet musky multilayered scent. I've also had no luck finding the proper word for "touchstone"..after a half hour's search I had to give it up. It'll probably come to me at three o'clock in the morning and wake me up. lol I had a gorgeous dark green malachite "touchstone" with a concave inset for placing your thumb into, which I found very soothing. I haven't used it in years, though. Now that you've mentioned your stones, I'll rifle through my drawers and see if I can find it. Like most men, my jewellry needs are basic, but I have a couple of nice rings, both estate pieces. One of them is an oval bloodstone set in a gold shank made to look like a ring of bamboo pieces that grow smaller from the stone's setting at the top. Each "piece of bamboo" is different from the others and has a very natural look to it. It belonged to the adventurous member of an old Canadian family, the black sheep of the family in fact, who was reputedly a gun runner in Indochina for a while, which would explain the bamboo. Cheers! |

Cool pictures of the Navy sinking an aircraft carrier... YES!! Those are very rare shots indeed. Call me crazy, but there is something sad about watching a large ship sinking. I can just imagine the panic that must've existed during WWII when some of the great carriers of the time were sunk. The thousands of people on board! It's like a small city, really. Great shots though, Mike. Thanks! |

Cool pictures of the Navy sinking an aircraft carrier... No actually, that little boat was supposed to float away...it contained the genrator and electronics that was used to house the gear that controlled the explosions....by design it was supposed to simply float off the deck and away.. When we sank the USS America off the east coast last year, we used it for target practice first....gave us a chance to practice actually sinking a carrier... EDIT: And by the way, that boat isn't really "little"... |

Hi all. I just stopped by to say hi. I'm feeling under the weather today, so not so much from me for now. I think though, I'll go out in the rain to get some cigarettes... Later. "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |
