OK. When Eric first released the enhanced application, he said that one splitter was creating enhanced work. The front page claims that was May 4.

A couple of days later (May 7) in this post he said that he had "upped the number of enhanced splitters to 2". That "announcement" was sort of buried in a thread about errors that I probably wouldn't have read normally.

Is there any way for those of us in the "unwashed masses" to tell what type of splitters are currently running? Do we know which hosts are doing what type? Do we have a timeline for when more splitters will be moving?

I am thinking that I want to keep my computers running the version where the "majority" of work exists. I also, being basically lazy, want to wait until things settle down a bit before I migrate my machines. This type of information might help me, and others like me, make a better decision.

Regardless of the splitter status on the servers my boxes carry a 2 day cache which currently is 80% enhanced and 20% standard seti work units. Don't know why but it is!

I'd like that also, but failing that, here is a nugget of information.

I have one machine configured with an app_info.xml which can only handle seti, not enhanced. It has been requesting work at one hour intervals the majority of the hours for the last couple of days. More than half of those requests are greeted with the message pair:

No work from project
Message from server: No work was sent

All this in a period when most of the time the "results ready to send" number was several hundred thousand.

At least in the last day, it appears the balance between supply and demand has been more generous for supply on enhanced than the older one. If the project administrators want to prod people to move, they'll want to keep it that way.

My belief is there are more optimized people out there than are reading the forums, or checking their systems. So the 4.18 WUs are gobbled up quickly. The other issue is first created first sent, so if you come online when 5.12 are waiting to go, you get nothing. The people with optimized and large caches are probably the ones eating most of the 4.18s. I am doing both, and am happy.

It would be nice to know when they plan on moving more of the splitters over, or when they will stop 4.18 all together.

I'm looking into getting that info added to the status pages. Currently we are running 3 enhanced splitters.

Eric - At the risk of being anal, if someone is going to make changes to the Status Page, you might want to also update the RAM attributed to the Opteron server to reflect the additional memory (up to 16) added in early April.

So, are we still at 3 and 3? Have the numbers changed? Anyone know?

I got a new linux machine up and running with BOINC 5.4.9. It has only gotten the seti_enhanced workunits thus far.

I upgraded my primary machine to 5.4.9, and removed Crunch3r's 4.11 app, since it was having problems getting SETI 4 work. It's only gotten enhanced work since the upgrade.

My last (old slow) machine is still running the old software (BOINC 5.3.12.tx36 and Crunch3r's 4.11 SETI client), but will probably get turned off today or tomorrow when it runs out of work. It is set to "No new work", so don't know about what it would get if it tried.

My new replacement machine for the old one is in the dining room, waiting to be setup. It arrived on Friday, but Sunday was my 3 year old's birthday, so anything other than birthday stuff was forbidden to anyone in the house.

My husband's computers are still getting 4.18 work. Haven't looked to see how many attempts they had to make before getting anything, but he is one of those that keeps a huge queue, so won't be running out of work any time soon. Although it does look like he is getting fewer new workunits than he is returning each day.

So, I guess my point (other than saying nyah, nyah, I got a new machine) is that for my small sample size, enhanced work seems "easier" to get, but 4.18 work can still be found, which agrees with what other folks have posted here.

I just did a quick poll of 5 of my machines. On 5 machines, I have one S@H result running, and it is 4.18. P.S. Don't feel sorry for me, those machines are attached to a large number of projects - they have plenty of work.

I got 2 4.18 units on this computer, 1 almost done, 1 waiting to crunch, between all the other projects I crunch. On my moms computer, theres only 1 wu, running an optmized app. I'm actually going up there tomorrow to take the optimized app out and have it start crunching whatever it gets, so it can get enhanced or 4.18, till enhanced is fully implimented here.
