After the last problems with the seti servers, i cannot get new work.
I have 3 computers running the s@h project but only one can get wu...

the other two even when i detached my self from the project, abort wu transfers, i uninstall and reinstall the boinc software... nothing...

it is always deffering the job ...

i saw in the server state that it has 301,137 to send out...

any suggestions? i do not know what else to do...

STOP detaching and reattaching, uninstalling and reinstalling and leave the thing alone!!!! It is designed to be a hands off program. You are trying to minutely manage a computer. Attach to Seti, if that is what you want to crunch, and walk away for 24 hours. It will download some files and a test unit. During this process there are often "issues" that the program iwll sort through on its own. Sometimes the files don't come thru the first time cleanly and need to be retransferred, this is all done automatically! By detaching and uninstalling you are trying to make the program do things RIGHT NOW, and at the same time the other half million of us are trying to connect to Berkeley too. We all have problems at times. Be patient!
I have 20 machines running Seti, do you really think that if the program were not able to do things on its own I could manage that? Some people have hundreds of machines all running Seti. Some Companies use it as a burn-in program when they build new computers! If it were not automatic they and us would not use it.
About the 30,000 units available, that was 4 hours ago!!! There are half a million Seti users, if everyone of those people decided to up their cache by one day, Seti would be out of units for days to come!
The number is 4 hours old is not very reliable, as good as it gets, but not reliable.
UPDATE..as of 21 minutes ago their are over 520,000 units available! That DOES NOT mean we can get to any of those units. If Berkeley has cable problems, machine issues, a ton of other things, none of those units can be gotten off of their servers.

Another thing to think about is the available hard drive space on that machine. If you are telling the program to leave 50% free and the drive is already 75% full it will not download any units.

i did walk away for 37 hours before trying anything. then i thought something is going on with my machine. that's for the machine that is carrying the most work. the other one is a completely new installation, and the last 48 hours has been lefted untouched...! still nothing it didn't even got the pdb and the exe files...!!!

so according to you, how many days or weeks do i have to wait to start worry about it?

Being that Berkeley has had some server problems in the last 72 hours or so... in light of that information, I'd say waiting a little longer, at least until the server problems are gone (you can find out about updates on server issues from the Main page by clicking on Server Status and/or Technical News).

Once the servers are online for a few days, they are able to stablize themselves and handle all requests again (after all, everyone's computers will be wanting to talk to the missing servers - and they'll all try to talk to them at once).

[Edit] Once you verify that the servers have no problems, THEN you might try detaching and re-attaching to a project. Doing so before knowing about server problems might only cause further problems for yourself. [/Edit]

OK guys... i am really getting pissed off... i am still waitting to get something.... everybody here is saying to me to be patient, but noone can understand that when i am writing the problem i have, i allready check the serves... they are working perfectly since the 31 of March accoirding to the technical news... i am also checking every 3-4 hours the server state, and since the 1 of April it hasn't drop down the 300,000 units available to send out....!!!

if you are still believe that i should be patient a little more, let me remind you that on wendsday there is going to be the weekly maintenance, which means that again the traffic will be high and again you will tell me to be patient cause the traffic is high...!!!

so i want an answer from the people at the labs, or atleast to look at my problem ... i do not know how to contact them... i think they might read this forum from time to time... if they find out that i made something that prevented my computer from downloading any more units... i want the correct and official answer for my mistake and what to do in case of happening again in the future... otherwise the rest... please stop trying to explain to me the obvious... before using a program, I DO READ THE MANUAL...!!!

Step One - chill out. 8-)

Step Two - to give us something specific to work from, go to the Messages tab, copy the last 20 or so messages from there and paste them into a reply here. That'll give us what exactly BOINC thinks it's doing. It will be better if you don't use a period where you're hitting the update key, or doing other actions that give you a "4/2/2006 6:36:58 PM||request_reschedule_cpus: project op" message, just what BOINC is doing on its own.

Step Three - We might be able to see more about what's going on if you don't have your computers hidden. There's no critical information about you or your computers visible to the public, you can look at mine to see what I would be able to see about yours. But we would be able to see what (if any} results have been uploaded, returned, valid, invalid...

MJ

The developers do read the forums. They do not have enough time to respond personally everytime someone has a problem or specifically requests/demands that they look at their problem. These boards were invented to allow users to help other users. You are not getting inferior answers from people who do not know what they're doing... you are getting answers from people who have used the project since it's inception or have used computers for many years and understand the workings of hardware and software.

It's great that you read the manual before using a program. Please understand, however, that even if you were to call tech support and tell them everything you did, they'd still run you through the steps just in case you forgot something - which is quite common when you think you've done everything. Further, you didn't state that you waited, but you asked for help. Others came to your assistance and immediately read that you detached and re-attached without reason other than not getting any work. So the usual answer even from the "official" developers will be to wait. Detaching, re-attaching, uninstalling and reinstalling might all be brash decisions without us knowing what's going on, and you didn't really explain much in your initial post.

The point I am trying to make is: please calm down. There's no reason to get mad at us. We can understand your frustration, but we can only help if you give us information. We/I appreciate you waiting an additional day so that we can eliminate that step as a possibility, and we go from here. The next step, as MJ said, is to give us the last 20 messages from you Messages tab (preferably without you pressing update 20 times as that's all the messages are going to tell us - that you pressed update 20 times). We have to take it one step at a time.

I am calm down.. i over reacting always in forum so that to emphasize not to tell me obvious thinks... for example to see the server state is obvious... to wait hours or even days after an outage is the obvious.... the only good point that i forgot to check was to see the disk space for one of the two computers i cannot download... it wasn't that the case although. the desktop computer has more than 70% free disk space.

as for the flustration, from the 3 computers, only one is downloading units, and all have to share the same connection ....

if you look to my computers... you will see a lot of units to be dropped down due to the fact i had a 5-6 days batch, which after a few days i had to drope them down before reattached to it and change the batch to 0.1 so that not to spare units ....

the last 20 messages is the same the last 2 days and is that:
