Hi, might be quite a simple expanation but i have assigned myself a pic on seti, but when i post, it doesnt show next to my name (as some other peoples do I notice) but just puts me a shadow of a head which you have to click on.

anyone know the reason?

I take it your on about the Avatar Pictures, first be sure it's formatted properly, the specifacations are given at 100 x 100 pixels and about 4kb in size formatted to jpeg or png, then it should show if you hit the update profile button, I hope that helps some. :-)

Your welcome but as a test try saving the image below then use that just to test it then if you have any probs I'll try and help. :-)

BTW sorry but I remembered the Giotto probe as I was at school at the time and it was a question at a general knowledge quiz, I just thought it was appropriate to your name :-)

Do you want this pic to use as Avatar (next to your name in the forum) or in your profile? Now you have uploaded the pic in your profile. If you want to use it as Avatar you have to go to Your account/ forum preferences and upload the pic as Avatar!

Yes thanks Stefan, I guess I should have made the instructions a little clearer so here's how you do it:

1.) Go to Your Account and click on it.

2.) Go to Message board preferences and click on View or edit.

3.) in the section under Avatar mark the circle that is next to Use this uploaded avatar: by clicking on it.

4.) In the box next to this enter the location and file name of the picture you want to upload such as: C:\\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\\My Pictures\\avatar1.jpg, or alternatively use the browse button and select the Picture you want to use as your Avatar.

5.) Once you have selected the picture you wish to use then go to the bottom of the page and click on the button that reads Update info.

6.) The screen should refresh and you should see your Avatar displayed in the Avatar preview section if not use refresh in your browser and it should then display.

If all else fails post a new thread and address the title as @Captain Avatar, he has a lot more experience in helping people with this sort of thing.

Sorry if it doesn't help much but that is the way I did it.

These were CA's instructions to me.
10 Easy Steps

1. Go to main page
2. Click on Your account
3. Scroll Down to Forum: View or Edit Forum preferences
4. Click on Use this uploaded avatar:
5. Click the Browse Button (It says Browse... on it)
6. Locate image on hard drive (This is where people screw up)
7. Scroll down to Update Info
8. Click on the Update info Button
9. Go Back to View or Edit Forum preferences
10. Refresh your screen or F5 .(This is where people screw up)
