Message 251924 - Posted: 22 Feb 2006, 12:28:25 UTC

How come 90% of my workunits have only been given 50% or so credit? I have been looking at other users and some seem to get 90% or more for their units, I am running BOINC seti with 5 PC's and I have installed the optimized clients on each PC.

Thanks in advance

You are running the optimized BOINC client, which asks for more credit, based on the way the crunching happens. You are NOT running the optimized SETI client, which after you change to, you will get the credit you are looking for, and crunch a lot faster.

ok I have found the optimized seti client, at the moment in my seti folder in BOINC there is version 4.18 the optimized seti client is 4.11 so do I just rename the 4.18 to 4.11 and re-start BOINC?

No, don't do that. you should be able to find a 4.18 optimised app, have a look at Crunch3rs site, they are current and the fastest about.
You should also try CPUID which will give you info as to which version to get.

hang on, I may have given you duff info there.
just looked at mine and while boincmgr says ver 4.18 in the projects/seti dir it says 4.11
So, you were right, what you need to do is remove the original files (not the workunits though) and put the new ones in that directory.
MAKE A BACKUP FIRST THOUGH

Your 2 XP+ machines won't show such a dramatic improvement but will certainly improve.
Don't know about your Athlon 64s
