Not enough "credits". Meanwile S@H is the only project on my BM that is rarely able to communicate with it's host. Perhaps I should just give-up S@H and let the other projects in wich I'm participating have more of my cpu time. S@H, you should have more consideration for the back-bone of your project. Those users had no consideration for the project. On the other hand, you are able to post here (obviously), where if you want assistance in getting SETI@Home running smoothly or just info on how it works, you can get that. Enough credits to post on the other boards will be just one cobblestone. I see that you had some problems downloading a couple of weeks ago, but that seems to have resolved and you've got work out. If you'd like some answers, please give us some info to work with, like the most recent twenty or so entries from the Messages tab. If possible, covering a span of time when you're not hitting the Update button, so we can see what BOINC is doing on its own. MJ ID: 220388 ·

The only time I let BM comm with hosts is when I Update. Otherwise when a WU is complete the project(s) automatically attempt to comm with host(s). And if a host does not respond (as is usually the case with S@H) it continually defers and re-attemps to comm every minute or so. For this reason I had S@H suspended for awhile (wich worked out well for E@H). I just restarted S@H last night. It appears that BOINC recently successfully uploaded but the WU still sits "ready to report". For this reason I had S@H suspended for awhile (wich worked out well for E@H). I just restarted S@H last night. A better way to do that, rather than suspending SETI@Home, is to suspend the Network Access. You can get there by right clicking the icon in the system tray, and selecting the appropriate message. When you're ready to connect, do the same but Allow the access. After S@H has connected with the server, it automatically goes into the deferral period. This is to help cut down on the frequent connects caused by people sitting on the Update button, banging it every few seconds. You'll see this even if there's no reason for it to be connecting within that deferral time, and it happens after you've done what you had connected to do before. It appears that BOINC recently successfully uploaded but the WU still sits "ready to report". Yes, that's the process. Since you aren't always-on, once BOINC uploads the work, you can go to the Project tab and do the Update, which will finish the process by reporting the work. For somebody connected 24/7, it'll do that reporting the next time it downloads work, or at a time that ensures it'll be reporting before your deadline, and it happens automatically.
