The Boinc manager has the capability of showing you what's happening on the other hosts within a network. most don't have it set up that way, but the ability is there. try clicking "File" then "select computer", leave the boxes blank and hit enter. OR type in localhost, leave password empty, hit ok OR type in 127.0.0.1, leave password empty, hit OK |

Rom just released 5.2.14 to specifically address this. click here and the Windows version should download immediately. install right over the old, no uninstall. Rom Wrote: Howdy gang, I've built a new build which tries and rpc before considering the connection good. I believe this will address the issue where the manager doesn't start the core client. I believe the reason that the manager wasn't starting the core client was that the manager was successful in opening a socket against another application. Anyways, this build works against my notebook okay, but as a sanity test can you all whack at it for a bit? I've updated the test reporting system with build 5.2.14. Let us know if you spot anything weird. ----- Rom |

Build 5.2.14 has failed in the alpha test group. It has trouble connecting to other puters on same network. IF you try to use the "select computer" option to connect to other puters on your network it may fail. Otherwise, stick with it until you have problems or a new one comes out. We're currently testing 5.3.2. I've already found flaws in it which should be ironed out by the next "official release" tony |
