I also had the problem of BOINC asking me for the Proxy Configuration when I need none. A fix was posted in release 5.2.12 that gets by that problem (something to do with the local firewall). I expect you are using the 5.2.8 version on BOINC. Download the new one and the Proxy Configuration question should go away.

I'll use small words so you can understand ;)
I just DOWNLOADED 5.2.12. I installed it. It cannot connect to the internet to set up my account. Interestingly enough, the links to the BOINK! websites do work. What specifically does the program do when it attempts to contact the server that it does not do when it contacts the BOINK! websites? Oh yeah, this happens with firewall on, firewall on with exception for BOINK!, and with firewall off.

Sorry Sir, Bionic is not cool yet. It is a great proof of concept, but the implication is rather poor sofar. It might get there in a year or two but at this time it is a very buggy confussing program. I use my computer for other things to and when this application get things sorted out I will try it again in a year or two.

I am deleting Bionic because it is so confusing to run and most of time my computer defers gettting data for hours. If I am not crunching numbers I will be shutting my computer off. I will now return to the classic seti until December 15. Then I will stop. I have done in the range of 6500 units in the last two years as I got a biggier better computer. Sorry to see a good thing fall apart. I hope in a year or two Bionic gets sorted out and running.

First of all, Roger, I see no Sirs around - just friens of Seti.
Second, it's called B O I N C, not Bionic.
Third: You should not append your question/comment to a thread covering an other matter, but open a new thread.

But now to your comment: I see that you have several machines connected and one of your machines has downloaded 5 WUs just this very day. Thus I can't see the problem you're having.

If you could describe us a bit more clearly the issues you are suffering, there might be help. That's what these Q&A are for...

Well, have dowloaded BOINC 5.2.13 and cannot get anything to work. This manager is very difficult. finally got my account verified, but it just sits there trying to download, or says downloading but does nothing. Frustrate OLD setiathome user.

There are problems with uploading and downloading right now as something failed and traffic is backed up. See front page for news. It should clear soonish.

Hi,

looks like the problem hasn't been fixed yet as I'm still facing the problem that I can't download work. Can you confirm that you are still working on this?

Regards,
Carsten

Yes, I can. As a matter of fact we just noticed that the "Server Status" page is missing some servers (penguin for one). somethings going on.

The front page still lists a problem, and if you look in the Number Crunching Forum you will see much talk of this. I see you have credit now and should be able to post there, congratulations.
