Yep, mine has been real flakey all day.
If I manually retry every now and then I can get 1 or 2 uploads and/or downloads.

But what has me worried is that every time I do an update, my credits sometimes increase and sometimes decrease.. Whats up with that.??

The usual (and often criticised by me) double connection BS is happening again :( You can monitor this, if you use a local proxy, that shows a realtime log. First upload attempt is a post with 238 (first time) or 239 (every further attempt) bytes. At the moment this first attempt has a chance of about 30% to get a positive response. After the positive response the BOINC manager makes a second connect attempt to actually upload the crunch result. Size varies from unit to unit. If you are lucky enough to get thru on the first, you can be pretty dam'ned sure, that the second will fail. I see no use in this, except to double the neccessary load. But as usual, noone will be listening and instead i will be bashed and minused for mentioning inconvenient things :/

[edit] This happens only @Seti, other projects seem not to need this ...
Aloha, Uli

Well....after trying to upload and download all night nothing has been done. I watched the procedure. An upload starts and 2 to 3 percent gets transfered then it just aborts. Seems there is certainly some communication problem happening and that is all that is happening. Whatever they changed yesterday during the outage has broken the system badly!! Now 18 hours after they came back online and it should not take this long to recover. A lot of aborted communications and that is all I have.

Hi, I cannot upload either, as of 11AM EST 10/13 ....

Question: Because of these, some of my WU will hit the server in an 'overdue' date.... Does anyone know for how long after the real overdue will I still be able to get credit for those WU when they eventually hit the server ? One hour ? One day ? One week ?

Morning Andres, How did you get yourself into that situation? I just checked my three puters (of various vintages), and my nearest deadline is the the 22nd of October. I have my connect to setting at 4 days.

did you set the connection interval to 10 days and not sign on in the last 12 days?

Just to add my CHF 0.02: Also having a real problem uploading completed WUs. Downloading fresh WUs seems to be no problem. Crunching along (and hoping for a fix)....

Cheers,

Ron

My interval connection time is 10 days, correct, I am a lot on the road, so I need to have a nice cache, so the units I sent are "near" the dealine. You can say that WU should be sent around 10 days after the download (that is 4 days before the deadline, right), but the situation depends on how long my machine is running, and other applications workload, but could prevent seti to take all my cpu time ...

Any answers to my original question ?

Any answers to my original question ?

Yes, I have one.

Once a result is overdue, the transitioner sends out one for each overdue result. If the first three returned wu are validated and credit is issued, then you're probably going to be out of luck. If the validator needs that 4th or (newly issued) 5th result to determine the canonical result, then if you beat the 5th result back in, then you'll get credit. If the 5th result comes in before yours and the WU is validated then you'll not get credit.

The last outage we had of an "Extended" duration (days), the seti crew turned OFF the validators so everyone would get their credit.

I'm also having up/dwn-loading problems.
I've got 2 sytems running 24hrs a day and if they can't send/receive why waste power.
whats interesting is the message I got:

here's messages after installing latest boinc. 4.45

LOL funny. Do you have any work for your puters? if so then when they complete it will once again try to make contact at that time. Are you on broadband, and what is your "connect to" setting under "general preferences? This info can be found by clicking on "your account" then "general preferences".

No uploads or downloads here either today, so I'm out of work. Fortunately, Einstein is always reliable :)

After a bit of analysis I can specify: SOME results get uploaded, but about 80 % don't. It doesn't look like the situation is improving or worsening, either way. Currently, each machine is able to upload a result about every two hours on average - but there's no pattern; it seems random. Still, WO downloads are no problem here...

Uploads and downloads are still sporadic here as well. However I've downloaded 10 (out of 11) WU and uploaded 3 WU (out of 6). It looks like a network snafu to me given the servers seem to be happy.

I see that both Matt and Bobb2 have posted messages within the last hour in a non-related thread. We must assume they have their finger on the pulse... or at least the place a pulse would be if there was one. ;)
