It has been longer than 2 hours and longer than 10 minutes...whats up??

I've been getting similar messages for several hours. I tried manually updating and made it through to a scheduler, but the work unit hasn't downloaded.

Looks like one of the servers is down or there's a network issue. I wasn't affected by the cogent issue earlier this week, so I doubt it's related to that.

At any rate, BOINC will keep trying to upload. In the meantime, I've got work for other projects; SETI's loss is their gain, and the BOINC manager will even everything out in the long run.

Jason - In the Boinc Manger, go to the "Transfer" tab, high-light your WU and depress "Re-Try Now".

Hope this helps,
Tom

It hasn't been longer than 2 hours, 31 minutes, and 12 seconds for your upload, it should be trying again in about 17 minutes as of now, unless you nudge it. Transfers tab, select the result, click Retry Now.

The 10 minutes was for the scheduler, and really what that was saying is that it wouldn't try to contact the scheduler for at least 10 minutes. Since it didn't need to right away, it hasn't.

Well I have ISP problems a lot but whenever I do this has NEVER happened. This is the first time I ever failed to upload a finished WU. And it only finished at the time that SETI's sever was down and NOT when my computer was offline. I am just afraid it will not upload at all. I am getting the connection from berkley but heres what it says when I click updat:

10/12/05 6:09:52 PM||request_reschedule_cpus: project op

10/12/05 6:09:55 PM|SETI@home|Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded

Message 177208 - Posted: 12 Oct 2005, 22:20:13 UTC - in response to Message 177198.

I wasn't able to download new WUs since last afternoon central european time.
I noticed this a few minutes ago.
I switched to my local isp s proxy server and downloading seemed to work...

Is there a link to peering problems, or problems with COLT or Berkeley??

Greetings,

Georges

I don't think your configuration is wrong because I am having the same problems. Can't upload finished workunits. Ping is ok and tracrt is ok. Don't understand what is happening.

I see status page says OK, pinging OK, (see other thread for my tracert issues) I also have WUs waiting for upload, so don't feel alone. It seems to have started after they came back up from the "scheduled" weekly outage for back up purposes.

I seem to agree with you on this one. My question next is: WHat of the WU I am now analyzing? Will I have the same problem with this one?

I personally only know of the Server Status page for SETI@home which is here: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html.

Jason - I think you're going to have to wait it out, until S@H fixes the problem at the server end.

The Wiki on this error
* Temporarily failed download of '(file)': '(error-code)'

Have a temporary failure because the Data Server dropped the connection due to an I/O error.

As Tony hinted, it may just be a fairly normal Wednesday afternoon post-outage blockage. Give it a few hours to clear, likely it's just the heavy traffic.

That will depend on how the net traffic is when that one finishes. I'd guess not unless it takes you a week to process one result!

The server pages have to be "updated" manually and the server dose not automatically report to the server page, so they need editing by the staff.

huh? what problem? It's still waiting to upload and will when they get it fixed. where's the problem? It's not lost or anything unless you abort it or something.

I will wait it out and repost any errors and or the success status before I run off to work. If anyone else that has not posted yet, and has the same problem, please post your error messages here :)

Um, I beg to differ. Those pages aren't up to the second, but they are created by automatic processes. You don't think somebody is there all night, updating that page every ten minutes, do you?

Think of it this way: the door was closed for 3 hours or so this afternoon, while work started piling up, waiting to get in. Compare it to a hot concert, just when the doors open. Not everybody can get in all at once, it takes some time for the mob to clear and get in. But eventually, everybody does get in. Let it ride, if it's still getting errors later this evening, then we can talk problems.

Thanks MJ, but I didn't think of that, I thought maybe they left a switch or something off after turning things back on. But that heavy traffic jam, might just be it. (just woke from nap, eyes not working yet)
