Hi there.

Looks like this is my first post...

One question - who here has read Stanislaw Lem's beautiful SF novel " His Master's Voice"?

I read it about 10 or 12 years ago, and I still think it is the most brilliant piece of SF, and just about the most brilliant novel I have ever read.

The only time I have heard of the Title is in reference to Nipper the Dog. (http://www2.danbbs.dk/~erikoest/nipper.htm)

But the book sounds interesting.

Here is a link to buy the book.

Hello :)

If you are looking for a copy then do a search on "Stanislaw Lem" on ebay. There is a copy coming up in 5 days here in the UK (they will post to Europe) and a couple in the US.

There are lots of items for "Stanislaw Lem" in Germany where you are but I can't read German so can not tell if 'His Master's Voice' is amongst them...

I didn't realise he wrote Solaris (as in the film)..

What? Oh, no - I'm not looking for a copy; this is about the last of all my books I'd give away, had it for years.

No, it's just that it's a very clever and intriguing "First Contact" novel. Or perhaps not, because that's one of the main questions. It's a fascinating bit of literature.

A few years ago I read Carl Sagan's "Contact", and was bitterly disappointed; compared to HMV it seemed quite shallow and unimaginative.
