Any idea why this WU is still pending?

Thank you,

G

Because it doesn't have the required number of results to validate it.

There are a few Work units that get "lost" and there is no current process to locate and remove/reissue them (yet). The note in the technical news touched on this too if I recall correctly. The bottom line, it really does not affect anything other than being untidy.

This one has clearly gone AWOL. One of the results is still In Progress since August 2004. Didn't we have a DB outage about that time that trashed a bunch of WUs?

Not only went AWOL, it also went to a party and is still suffering hangover...

Yup...

I still got pending stuff from July 2004. Seti/Boinc can't send out the WU to gain 3 valid results, as the WU is no longer on line.

I have 70 pending, with at least half that I checked had two other computers finishing the same WU. That does make three. Their are four pc's listed for each pending WU.

Azwoody, what you are describing is EXACTLY what the SETI folks are combating. WUs that have been hanging out there for months, will not be verified or procesed. Yes, while this issue is being corrected, the validation que is backed up.
::::Not directed at any one person::::
QUIT the complaining, SETI folks are aware. The issue is being worked. We ALL have WUs that are pending. I have over 150 myself. They will be validated as soon as possible.
People, no-one is making you run SETI/BOINC. This is the BETA period for this program. This is when the bugs are worked out. Get used to it. IF the program ran with no issues, front end or back end, it would be production. This is NOT the case.
I enjoy running the SETI program. I am fully aware that this is still the BETA period for this project.

Sorry for the rant, I just get frustrated reading all the posts saying why isn't it working and fix it now.

Hi,

First of all, I was not complaining, I was informing that I had a WU pending for more than a year. This fact may be interesting to the developers or administratiors.

Second, I also have lots of WU pending, but these are recent WU and I didn't say anything about that.

Third, I don't think Seti@Home is in BETA period.

Fourth, If none says there's a bug, it cannot be fixed.

Last, Have a good day.

G

I also am not complaining. It does seem strange that after ever outage my pending WU keeps growing. By the way Groucho, you are absolutely right I was in an Army S2 section (Military intelligence) and I know what you mean.

Actually, it appears to be a different problem. What's being fixed now is files in the upload/download directories that don't have a database record.

These year old "pending" results appear to have a database record, but nothing in upload/download directories. If they didn't have a database record, they wouldn't appear as pending.

Have 148 pending WUs and this number is growing...
Starting to be little nervous about that "still pending" issue.
I'm thinking of suspending SETI project and run something new in my
BOINC client... :(

Suspending usage is not helping Seti with their issues. They need to be have full service going and allowing them to find the fixes that will make the things run smooth.

Old WU are pending because of a Database failer last fall, and winter. I have one from July and one from November still sitting there pending. There is no files to validate, so they will always be pending, until they go clean up the database by hand.

Since they are working on bigger fish to fry, the really old units are not a top priority.

Keep crunching! Have a good one.

The 152 WUs are from Aug. 14, 2005. Turning off Gamer (AMD 3000 XP, 1 gig ram , 6600 GT vid card) cost related to run 24/7 when I have not been playing games.
