When you joined you were sent an email conatining a project URL (website) and an account key (long string of letters and numbers). Under the projects tab in the BOINC manager click on "Attach to new project". A box will come up asking for these two pieces of information. Copy and paste these in and click ok. The system is VERY slow right now so don't expect to see any work downloaded for a while. The SETI team is looking into why the system is so slow right now. Keep your account key handy because you'll need it to log into your account. I created a new text file on my desktop and pasted the account key as the name of the file. Whenever I need the key I simply click twice on the file slowly (rename) then right click and copy the file name. Then I can simply paste it when I need to log in. Hope this helps :-) -Terry |

I was actually stuck on the same thing; it really isn't too clear what's going on. Anyway, I have got onto SETI again and I notice that under 'File' of Boinc there is the the option: Run based on preferences Which preferences? Where are they set? I need to have Boinc run when nothing else is being run (during the day I do some serious number crunching). Where is this set? - Malc |

The (very good) manual for Boinc is the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the BoincWiki therein. A quick installation guide in this is here. For information regarding Credits look here! Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

I was actually stuck on the same thing; it really isn't too clear what's going on. When you log in to this site you will see preferences you can set. These preferences will get downloaded to each of your computers when they ask for work, upload work, etc.. Based on preferences refers to those preferences you set here on this site. -Terry |
