Installed directly from SETI's program, the new official recommended CC4.45 I did install correctly and restarted equipment. At the time I had a Climate unit at a 56% advance, 2 units from SETI to be reported back and none to crunch. Also had two units from Einstein. When 4.45 started working, it kicked out my climate unit and the SETI units dissapeared. A new Climate unit was unloaded (which is working fine since yesterday), then 4 units were received from Einstein and they have been working and reporting themselves back to headquarters without a problem. However the SETI server does not seem to accept any news from my host and answers the following: 10/06/2005 13:08:45|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 10/06/2005 13:08:45|SETI@home|Requesting 0 seconds of work, returning 0 results 10/06/2005 13:09:37|SETI@home|Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded And there it stays and nothing is received. So finally I decided to restart project, and all data was erased (from SETI)but nothing else is happening. Any help would be appreciatted! Patience is a virtue. |

The main Boinc web page, which you should have passed to get to this section, says the project database is having problems. NO ONE is getting thru! Also the server status page, available here: http://boincprojectstatus.ath.cx/boinc/SS_SETI@Home.html |

I think mikey's answer is irrelavant to the question. The issue isn't not getting through to the database but the fact that Boinc is requesting 0 seconds of work. I am having this same problem on ProteinPredictor@Home and on ClimatePredictor. It seems to be a problem with Boinc Manager (V4.43 and 4.45 on my system do this) rather then with Seti - and unfortunately no one from Boinc development seems to pay attention to these boards... I wonder if reverting to 4.19 would fix these problems? I never had any issues with it... |

The 4.45 client has had changes made to give it a better chance of meeting deadlines. One of the changes introduced a long term debt number to the system. If the LTD is less than your switch time then you will not request work from that project again until it increases, even if you manually update. That may be what you are seeing here. If that is the case it will fix itself eventually. You can look in client_state.xml to see what the LTD is for each project as long as there is a valid number there it should be ok. If it has something like ind0# instead you will need to manuall edit the file. Exit the client first then change the LTD to '0.0' (you can also do this edit if you are impatient). Finnally the CC 4.45 has gone into its normal procedure and it is working ok. Thanks for all the answers. Patience is a virtue. |
