Hi! I have problem with it.. :( In WinXP there is menu where I can set which icons I want to hide, which to show.. item 'BOINC application' displayed there or something like that (I have russian MUI, and this menu is localized) That's why I think settings about hiding does not apply and every time I start Windows I see BOINC's icon What do you think about that? :) |

Hello, I think this one would belong to the windows part, but nevertheless: Right-click in the taskbar (anywhere where there is no icon ;) and chose 'properties' (should be the last one in the menue, nje snaju porussky ;), click on 'hide inactive icons' (or whatever, I've got: 'inaktive Symbole ausblenden' in my german XP) and go to 'customize' (again, german: 'Anpassen'). There you can chose for every program, whether it's supposed to be shown or not (always, never, when idle...). I hope, it was helpful, Do svidanja, Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

I think they checked in a fix for this that should be in CCv4.28 or later. BOINC was resetting this behavior after every reboot. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

Just move the BOINC Manager icon from your startup folder. BOINC Manager does not have to be loaded for work to process. (I assume you installed BOINC as a service) Regards |

Hi, This appears to only identify which tray icons appear when the "hide inactive icons" is selected. When that option is chosen a less than sign is displayed. The less than sign only reduces the number of tray icons that are normally displayed. By clicking on the less than sign, all tray icons, including the ones you've said to always hide are displayed. I've never been able to get the BOINC Hide option to work. As i said (wrote? ;), you have to go one step further. There is a customize button that's greyed out when the 'inactive' checkbox is unchecked. Click it, and more options appear, where you can select for every single programm the behavior. Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

Any ideas, how to hide BOINC manager icon from tray under win2000? There is no way to hide the icon from the tray unless you use the 'Service' install of Boinc. Then when you boot the computer you will never see it. Boinc and and your projects run without you even knowing that they are there. After you install just make a shortcut so that you can get to Boinc when you need to check on things. IAS - Where Space Is Golden! |

Yes, I did as a service. Would you check to see that the service was actually installed? I have seen a couple of times where the service was not actually installed even though I selected service install, and typed in the passwords. To do this, open Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Services to see that BOINC is actually there. BOINC WIKI |

No, proccess setiathome_5.15_windows_intelx86.exe still be working OK, in the startup folder, there is a link to BOINCMgr.exe. This is put there because you did not uncheck the run at startup check box on the last page of the install. You can delete the shortcut to the BOINCMgr.exe from the startup, and the BOINC icon in the task bar should disappear. BOINC WIKI |

I mean something else. Not to disappear at all !! Just to be hidden with XP tray function. I want to BOINC manager to be lunched at start up, but without it's icon to be shown. (Taskbar's Properties -> Hide unused icons) This works properly in 5.4.11, in the latest - no. Please, read my posts before!! |

And what do you think, how to hide an icon? Or please add back this function to the Manager |
