I downloaded BOINC 4.19, but after I double-clicked it, the dialog both showing the files unpacking displayed, then nothing happened. I checked with Task Manager, and it showed that both boinc_4.19_windows_intel86.exe and Setup.exe were running, but no windows were present for either. The md5sums also match. I even tried unpacking the package with 7zip myself and lauched Setup.exe, and the same problem occured--the process launched but no windows showed up. Compiling it myself is a possibility, but I do not have MSVC++; I only have the cygwin gcc, which stability wise I do not feel comfortable using too compile such a massive application(it is an UNIX emulator, after all). It must be fixed by 16.2.2004 or I cannot participate in Einstein. I have an emachines T1105 with a GeunineIntel 1Ghz processor, 256 MB RAM, Windows XP (ver 5.1.2600) Build 2600.xpsp2_sp2_rtm.040803-2158.

This is not a Boinc problem but a XP problme it happens occassionally. You have to reboot and then try again. For some reason setup hangs during some program installs but will usually install the same program later, but only after a reboot. Even using Task Manger to shut down setup etc. doesn't help.
