I know this is a stupid question, but how BIG is a wu? I've brought my settings from requesting over 100,000 sec of work, to use no more than 3Gb of space, leave at theast 2Gb free, use no more than 75% of space, and leave me enough work to last me between 0.1 to 0.5 days. But I keep on getting this message each time I open BOINC: 2004-07-09 09:57:13 [---] Starting BOINC client version 3.18 for powerpc-apple-darwin 2004-07-09 09:57:13 [SETI@home] Project prefs: using separate prefs for home 2004-07-09 09:57:13 [SETI@home] Host ID is 26338 2004-07-09 09:57:13 [---] General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2004-07-08 15:28:58) 2004-07-09 09:57:13 [---] General prefs: using separate prefs for home 2004-07-09 09:57:13 [---] Fewer active results than CPUs; requesting more work 2004-07-09 09:57:31 [---] Fewer active results than CPUs; requesting more work 2004-07-09 09:57:31 [SETI@home] Requesting 27829 seconds of work 2004-07-09 09:58:16 [SETI@home] Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 2004-07-09 09:58:33 [SETI@home] Scheduler RPC to http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded 2004-07-09 09:58:33 [SETI@home] Message from server: No work available (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated) 2004-07-09 09:58:33 [SETI@home] Message from server: No work available (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated) 2004-07-09 09:58:33 [SETI@home] Project prefs: using separate prefs for home 2004-07-09 09:58:33 [SETI@home] No work from project 2004-07-09 09:58:33 [SETI@home] No work from project 2004-07-09 09:58:33 [SETI@home] Deferring communication with project for 1 hours, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds 2004-07-09 09:58:33 [SETI@home] Deferring communication with project for 1 hours, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds ...but here are my computer stats: CPU type Power Macintosh PowerBook5,2 Number of CPUs 1 Operating System Darwin 7.4.0 Memory 768 MB Cache 976.56 KB Swap space 0 MB Total disk space 55.77 GB Free Disk Space 7.9 GB Number of times client has contacted server 81 Last time contacted server 9 Jul 2004 1:58:46 UTC % of time client is on 64.4201 % % of time host is connected 64.4201 % % of time user is active 64.4201 % ...and I still haven't recieved a wu yet. What don't I get here? Is there a bug with the prefs and a modem? I've tried every setting I can think of, and others that has been successful for others. HELP!!! Thx ^_~, Eric |

You need to up the space that Boinc can use me thinks Seti@Home, it is really about the science, isn’t it!! |

There are 3 numbers that BOINC uses to determine whether enough disk is left. Use at most X, Leave at least Y, and use Z%. Check all three. BOINC/S@H uses ![]() |

The 7.9G of disk space remaining on your HD is less than the 75% maximum usage that you have set. I would either free up more HD space, change the maximum to 95%, or install another HD for Boinc to run on. I hope this helps... |
