Hi Guido,

first of all your question translated for our international fellows:

"What would you suggest to use for a noob to start develop c++ on win xp?"

AFAIK you're capable of reading english so I'll drop my thoughts exclusive in english.

First of all you should by a beginner's guide to c++ and read it carefully :-))

When it comes to stress the keyboard, you'll have to decide whether you want something completely for free, something that's common but payable or some state-of-the-art RAD tool.

Free tools mostly share the disadvantage of being not as comfortable as you'd like then to be. But if this doesn't bother you, you might want to take a look at Open Watcom, which includes everything that's neccessary to write really powerful C++ Applications.

Common tools usually are somewhat outdated already but who cares, many people still use them and you'll find much information and help on the internet if you use them. Borland C++ and Micro$oft Visual C++ are two of them. If you're lucky on eBay Borland C++ 5.0 or MS VC++ 6 shouldn't be too expensive.

State of the Art means you'll have to pay money. Lots of money. And, of course, the internet-support isn't spreaded that much already. But you'll be capable of building your own boinc-client i.e., berkeley uses latest available dev. tools also.
The most common state-of-the-art C++ Developing tool comes from, you'll guess it :-)), Micro$oft and is called Visual C++ .NET. For simple private usage it's definitely too expensive, but if your company grows up to a global player than you might put it under your christmas tree, and if your family gives you some extra-bonus you might extend your view to the complete suite called Visual Studio .NET, which includes the new C# also.

Kind regards

Mike
