Personal background

I'm 29 years old, originally from Dublin, I'm currently in London and preparing for a move to France where we hare having a child. I write for a living, and am currently in process of attempting to finish a novel(anybody else who's there knows the frustration in the last bit of tweaking). Generally, when not writing I play guitar in a cpl of bands and do a bit of session work to pay the rent. Not much else to say really.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

I think it's a fairly conceited notion to concieve of the universe, in all it's wndrous immensity, as having only one advance life-form. In fact I would'nt really consider us as advanced, just luckily curious. Sad to say it may be centuries from now before we discover a similiar species, until then I guess we just have to retain the belief that we are not alone. It's all too beautiful out there for just us savages to appreciate.
Maybe if we do find another species out there they may regard our dubious history and decide to ignore us.
It's a shame that so much of the planets finances go into material fulfillment and military armaments, when truly, if the financing for space exploration was regarded a little more highly by certain individuals we could see tremendous advances over decades, not centuries.
If we were to communicate with another civilisation I think we have a responsibility to let them know that we are going through a turbulent growing phase for the last millenia or so, but that our intentions are pure.
I guess we just have to hang on, and, I guess, the more people who help out, with such projects as SETI@home, I guess the closer we are to making our fantastic dreams a reality.
