Personal background
Retired CIO living on the MS Gulf Coast. Married, w/6 grandchildren. Hobbies include the grandchildren, photography, fishing, hunting, wine making, produce gardening, and reading.

I am happy to dedicate my two home computer's spare processing time to worthwhile scientific projects such as Einstein, Milky Way, and SETI.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The volunteer effort in distributed processing for SETI will help crunch the massive amount of data being produced and I am happy to dedicate a portion of my spare processor time to the effort. I think the project is worthwhile, although I am a bit skeptical about whether it will result in the discovery of ETI. Not because I don't think ETI exists, because "they" may not want to be found in the first place if more intelligent than ourselves, or if equal to or less intelligent than us, may be communicating in a way that we cannot discern by existing methodology.
